Oatmeal Milky Way Brownies
I’ve seen this recipe a few times and finally had some guests that I knew would enjoy it, so I made up a batch–and let me say, it was the best thing since sliced bread!! Jen at live.life.create.art was the final straw, after seeing her recipe posted, I knew it was my turn to make it, and now it should be yours, you won’t be disappointed…
Oatmeal Milky Way Brownies
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups Old Fashioned Oats
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 1/2 sticks butter, at room temperature
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups brownie mix
- 1/3 cup canola oil
- 1 egg
- 1 bag (11 ounces) Kraft Caramel Bits
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
2 Milky Way bars
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium saucepan, place the Milky Way bars, entire bag of caramels and the heavy cream. Let simmer over medium to medium low heat until fully melted. remove from heat and let cool approximately 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda, salt, brown sugar and butter. Use a fork to incorporate. It’s OK if there’s some chunks of butter, you are looking for no chunk bigger than a pea though.
Add in the brownie mix, egg and oil. Stir to combine.
Using a prepared 9 x 13 baking dish, spread half of the oat mixture into the dish and press firmly to flatten. Pour the melted Milky Way mixture over the oat mixture, making sure to get all the way to the corners. Top with remaining oat mixture, pushing flat with your fingers. Bake for 35-130 minutes.
