Receta Old Fashioned Egg Cream
by Marlene Baird

This Old-Fashioned Egg Cream is a classic drink that actually uses neither egg nor cream!

This is an old NYC drink from back in the days of soda and milkshake shops.

Having a little kid is all of us is what keep us young and fun. The hubby loves milkshakes, floats, and ice cream. When we go out for lunch, he really enjoys a burger, fries and a chocolate shake. I think it’s adorable. He doesn’t order a beer, or wine, but a shake.

It’s what makes him the man who I love. A fantastic guy with just enough little kid in him to keep things young and fun.

Which brings me to an Egg Cream.

A beverage, popular in the early 1920’s, sold in Sweet Shops along with a plethora of unusual items such as newspapers, and even a telephone booth. It truly is a nostalgic beverage.

Chocolate Sodas, make with just chocolate syrup and seltzer water, prompted the addition of milk. While the name remains a mystery, it will a fun drink to make and create for any special occasion. And if you have a soda stream what a great treat to make. I strongly suggest seltzer water only and not club soda since club soda has added ingredients.

Why not go ahead and make these for your Easter celebration even if there is no egg or cream in this recipe. It’s all in the name, right?!
