Ingredientes

  • 1 c. Butter + 1 teaspoon for pans
  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon extract
  • 1 1/3 c. Lowfat milk
  • 10 x Egg whites
  •     pn Salt
  • 4 c. Flour
  • 1 tsp Cream of tartar

  1. At least 1 hour before starting set out all ingredients to come to room temperature. Butter one 10" pan & one 8" pan. In large bowl cream butter with wooden spoon till fluffy. Use back of spoon, blend in sugar till mix is no longer grainy. Add in soda & extracts to lowfat milk & beat into butter-sugar mix. Place whites on 16" platter, add in salt & beat till they are too stiff to slip from platter, about 10 min. Heat oven to 350. In small bowl sift together flour & tartar. Sift a second time. Fold flour into butter mix, a large spoonful at a time, alternate with a spoonful of whites. Continue till ingredients are blended. Divide batter between buttered pans & bake 50 min or possibly till cakes begin to pull away from pan edges.
  2. Cold layers in pans 10 min before turning them out onto clean cloths to cold further. Meanwhile make Sugar Frosting.
