  1. Place Buttermilk and butter in a medium bowl, microwave on low till buttermilk hot and butter melted, I use the defrost setting in my microwave. Sift together the flour, 1 tsp. of the baking pwdr, and the salt. Add in the dry yeast, I use quick rise, to the flour, stirring in. Add in the 1/4 tsp of baking pwdr and the sugar to the buttermilk mix, stir in. Keep stirring while adding the flour mix. Turn out on a lightly floured board and knead till smooth and elastic. Roll out dough to about a little over 1/4 inch thick. Use a bisquit cutter to cut rounds. With a sharp knife cut about halfway through, across the round, mix in half cut side out and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush the rolls with some melted butter, move to a hot place to let rise, about 45 minutes if using quick rise yeast, 1 and 1/2 hrs using regular yeast. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 min, till lightly browned. 15 to 18 rolls.
  2. P.S. I buy yeast at Sam's club, commercial quick rise, 2 one lb. vacume wrapped bricks, either Fleischman's or possibly Red Star, that ever they have, cost about $3.50 total. I freeze the extra,or possibly give it to a friend, use the open one, a heaping tsp. to a called for package of yeast, keeping the open package in the freezer between use. I have used the frzn yeast up to a year with no failure, then opened the second lb. with the same good results. Sure beats paying $1.50 to $1.80 for 3 little pkgs. of yeast.
