Receta Orange Creamsicle Milkshake
by Brent Garell

The weather for the next few days looks like it’s going to be downright balmy here in Oakville.

I’m talking 11 degrees Celsius (52 Fahrenheit). That’s crazy warm for these parts in January. It’s giving me visions of the last year’s winter that never was.

After this brief warm smell (unfortunately with rain) it looks like old man winter is coming back "big time" so I’m going to soak in the warm vibes (rain or no rain) while they stick around!

One of my favorite treats on a hot summer day is an Orange Creamsicle! This milkshake version is acting as my January meltdown substitute!

I reduced the fat in it (for those New Year’s resolutions that are still alive and well) by substituting in low-fat yogurt for some of the vanilla ice cream.

However I found the real self-discipline comes in when adding the final scoop on top. When the ice cream on top mixes with the milkshake on the spoon it tastes so much like an Orange Creamsicle that I wanted to keep adding more and more ice cream!

Somehow I managed to stick to one scoop…I doubt I’ll be so disciplined next time!

In my freezer...

I keep a container of frozen orange juice concentrate that I only use for cooking, smoothies, and now, for making Creamsicle milkshakes!

It's not like I use it often but it has saved me from having to make an extra trip to the grocery store on a few occasions.

Tastes like a Creamsicle...looks like a milkshake!

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.

Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
