Oven Beef Stew
- Oven Beef Stew
- Ingredients
- 1/4 c
- oil
- 1 large
- onion, coarsely chopped
- 6 cloves
- garlic, crushed
- 1 large
- green pepper, coarsely chopped
- 4 stalks
- celery, with leafy tops, chopped
- 8 oz pkg.
- whole mushrooms, wiped and quartered
- 6 oz can
- tomato paste
- 6 large
- carrots, peeled and chopped
- 6 large
- potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 3-4 lbs
- Chuck, English or Sirloin Roast, cut in medium size pieces
- 1/4 c
- molasses
- Salt and Pepper
- to taste
- 4-6
- bay leaves
- 4 c
- Beef Broth
- 2c
- Red Wine (I used Sutter Home Sweet Red)
Cooking Directions
In large roasting pan, mix together all ingredients. Cover pan with heavy duty foil and place in a 352 degree oven. Bake for 4-5 hours or until all ingredients are tender.
Serve with warm buttered French Bread.
Note: I like to use cremini mushrooms
Note: Apple juice or Cranberry Juice can be used in place of the Red Wine.
