Receta Overview – Star Anise Restaurant, 4 Bridge Street, Cork
On a recent week-end visit to Cork, we went to Star Anise Restaurant to join friends for dinner on one of the evenings.
Star Anise offers Mediterranean inspired dishes, using locally sourced produce, combined with very friendly and knowledgeable service from the FOH staff. Here is an overview of the dishes which we all enjoyed.
- House made Smoked Chicken Ravioli with Pil Pil Sauce, Rocket Leaves and some shavings of Grana Padano
- Crispy Free Range Hen’s Egg, Asparagus & Pea Salad, Saffron Aioli with Parmesan Tuille
- Kataifi Tiger Prawns, Fennel & Citrus Salad, lemon aioli, and shavings of radish
- Star Anise Seafood Chowder with Salmon, smoked haddock, mussels & prawns
- Barbary Duck Breast, Carrot & Cardamom Puree, Duck Risotto Croquettes, Roast Potato & Jus
- 8 Oz Irish Fillet Steak, Thyme Rosti, Sugar Snaps, Braised Shallots, Spinach Puree & Pepper Sauce
When we cannot choose a dish for dessert, we choose a bit of everything! Tasting plate for sharing between two….Sticky Toffee Pudding, Apple Posset, Chocolate Brownie with Hazelnut and Raspberries, topped with vanilla ice cream, and a Crème Brûlée, just delightful. The Chocolate Brownie inspired me to recreate it once I arrived home, but that is material for another post!
Star Anise Restaurant on Bridge Street, Cork, is a “must add” to your Cork dining experiences. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the dishes, and will certainly be back.
