%20with%20this,%20adding%20some%20mash%20on%20the%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20cooked%20the%20bacon%20and%20then%20crumbled%20it,%20setting%20it%20aside.%20%20I%20could%20have%20browned%20the%20chops%20in%20the%20drippings,%20but%20there%20weren't%20many%20and%20so%20I%20added%20a%20tsp%20each%20of%20butter%20and%20olive%20oil,%20seasoned%20my%20chops%20really%20well%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper%20and%20thyme%20and%20then%20browned%20them%20off.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20then%20added%20an%20onion%20and%20the%20carrot%20(cut%20into%20half%20moons%20each)%20to%20the%20pan%20drippings%20and%20started%20softening%20them.%20%20Once%20I%20got%20them%20really%20started%20I%20began%20to%20add%20the%20cabbage%20in%20handfuls%20along%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20apple%20juice,%20letting%20it%20wilt%20down%20a%20bit%20before%20I%20added%20more.%20%20%20The%20cabbage%20was%20thinly%20shredded%20by%20hand,%20not%20too%20thin,%20but%20not%20too%20thick%20either.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20I%20had%20all%20the%20cabbage%20in,%20I%20stirred%20in%20the%20apple%20sauce,%20apple%20juice,%20half%20of%20the%20crumbled%20bacon%20and%20gave%20it%20a%20good%20stir.%20%20Some%20apple%20cider%20vinegar%20was%20also%20added%20to%20counteract%20the%20sweetness%20of%20the%20applesauce.%20I%20nestled%20the%20partially%20cooked%20chops%20down%20into%20the%20mixture,%20%20covered%20it%20tightly%20and%20then%20let%20them%20simmer%20for%20a%20bit,%20with%20the%20end%20result%20being%20some%20really%20tender%20and%20juicy%20chops,%20in%20a%20flavourful%20vegetable%20sauce%20mixture%20that%20went%20down%20a%20real%20treat%20with%20a%20pile%20of%20mash%20on%20the%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20love%20it%20when%20that%20happens.%20%20They%20do%20say%20waste%20not%20want%20not!%20%20And%20when%20you%20can%20make%20the%20bits%20left%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20taste%20as%20special%20as%20this%20did,%20you%20just%20know%20you%20have%20done%20a%20great%20job!%20%20I%20think%20I%20could%20have%20added%20a%20bay%20leaf%20for%20even%20more%20flavours,%20but%20will%20save%20that%20now%20for%20next%20time.%20%20We%20both%20really%20enjoyed!%20%20The%20Toddster%20does%20love%20his%20chops!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Pan%20Roasted%20Chops%20and%20Cabbage*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20little%20something%20I%20threw%20together%20to%20use%20up%20what%20I%20had%20in%20the%20refrigerator.%20%20Delicious!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Emixture.%20%20I%20served%20this%20with%20creamy%20mashed%20potatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBon%20Appetit!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
