Pan Seared Tuna with Dijon Mustard

Blog Makeover! I have wanted to change around my blog for awhile now, but I was unsure how to go about it. It’s still not perfect, but it did get a little bit of botox, rather than an all out facelift. So update your readers, the new site is www.makinggoodchoicesblog.com! I hope you like the little changes I’ve made, while I try to figure out the rest during my vacation time.

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day. We did! We didn’t do much around here besides hitting up the gym and the food store and then cooking up a storm. The menu consisted off:

Appetizer: Fresh mozzarella, olive and tomato salad with Annie’s Balsamic Vinaigrette

Main Course: Sesame Crusted Tuna, short grain brown rice and white beans and celery with olive tapenade

Dessert: Chocolate Chip Cookies/Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oh and don’t forget the whole grain (whole wheat flour & spelt flour) bread that we ate half of (that would be 1 pound of bread, gone…).

This was the first time I made sesame tuna and it WON’T be the last. It was a huge hit.

Yum.

Dijon Mixture, brushed onto tuna

Sprinkle the sesame seeds right on top

The sesame oil smelled so nutty and aromatic!

Pan Seared Sesame Crusted Tuna

Ingredients

Whisk mustard, soy sauce, 2 Tbsp. lime juice add canola oil, whisking constantly until blended. Season tuna with salt and pepper and brush on mixture in bowl. Sprinkle on sesame seeds. Heat sesame oil in frying pan over high heat. Add tuna, sesame seed crusted side down and sear about 2 minutes. (* Optional, I brushed the second side and added sesame seeds.) Flip and sear the other side for about 2 seconds. Lower the flame to medium and cover and let cook for 5-10 minutes, depending on how cooked you want it.

This is a definite must try. I have some tuna leftover that I will throw over a salad for lunch today. Loving my first day off. Danny has off too, which is a rarity so we are off to the gym and some visits now!
