Penne Pasta With Tomato Vodka Sauce

Ingredientes

  • 1 x and 1/2 lbs. Penne pasta
  • 6 x cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 c. vodka1/2 pound
  •     Canadian bacon or possibly smoked ham, diced
  • 1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 x 28-ounce. cans tomatoes, crushed
  • 1 c. heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 med onion, minced
  • 2 c. frzn peas
  • 1/2 c. Romano cheese, grated

Direcciones

  1. Saute/fry onion and garlic in extra virgin olive oil till brown, about 5 min. Add in tomatoes, Canadian bacon, crushed red pepper and peas and cook over medium heat for 5 min. Add in heavy cream and vodka and cook for 5 more min till sauce thickens. Meanwhile, in a separate pot, boil Penne pasta till it is al dente and drain. Place pasta on individual plates and top with tomato-vodka sauce and serve.
  2. Chefs Notes: Use fat free Half and Half in place of the cream.
