My boys love picnics. Who doesn’t, right? Food just seems to taste better when you eat it outside in the fresh air. But you know what I don’t like about eating outside? (I mean besides the stinkin’ hornets!) I hate it when you put your tablecloth on the table and the wind blows it all over the place. So darn annoying.
Today I’m going to show you how to make a tablecloth with weighted corners. No more tablecloths flapping in the wind. Woohoo!

%20I%20hate%20it%20when%20you%20put%20your%20tablecloth%20on%20the%20table%20and%20the%20wind%20blows%20it%20all%20over%20the%20place.%20So%20darn%20annoying.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday%20I%E2%80%99m%20going%20to%20show%20you%20how%20to%20make%20a%20tablecloth%20with%20weighted%20corners.%20No%20more%20tablecloths%20flapping%20in%20the%20wind.%20Woohoo!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1-First%20up%20you%20need%20to%20prep%20your%20tablecloth%20material.%20(I%20like%20to%20wash%20and%20dry%20mine%20first.)%20I%20picked%20a%20neutral%20color%20so%20I%20could%20use%20it%20for%20any%20occasion,%20but%20there%20are%20so%20many%20fun%20fabrics%20you%20can%20choose!%20Measure%20your%20table%20first,%20then%20buy%20the%20amount%20of%20fabric%20you%20need.%20I%20made%20mine%20with%20about%208%E2%80%B3%20of%20fabric%20hanging%20over%20the%20edge%20of%20each%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGoing%20around%20all%20four%20edges%20of%20your%20fabric,%20fold%20over%20about%201/4%E2%80%B3%20and%20iron%20a%20crease.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2-Then%20fold%20over%20again,%20and%20iron%20the%20crease%20really%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESet%20your%20tablecloth%20aside%20while%20you%20work%20on%20the%20weighted%20corners.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3-Cut%202%20pieces%20of%20fabric%20that%20are%206%E2%80%B3x%206%E2%80%B3.4-Cut%20them%20in%20half%20diagonally%20so%20you%20have%204%20triangles.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5-Fold%20the%20edge%20of%20one%20triangle%20down%201/4%E2%80%B3,%20and%20iron%20it%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6-Now%20fold%20it%20over%20another%201/4%E2%80%B3%20and%20iron%20the%20crease.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7-See%20how%20the%20corners%20are%20all%20wonky%20now?%20Not%20good.%20Cut%20off%20the%20overlapping%20edges%20of%20the%20folded%20down%20corners,%20so%20you%20have%20an%20even%20triangle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8-Now%20stitch%20the%20folded%20edge%20down%20using%20a%20straight%20stitch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E9-Repeat%20steps%205%20thru%208%20for%20the%20remaining%20three%20triangle%20pieces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E10-Now%20it%E2%80%99s%20time%20to%20put%20the%20corners%20in%20place.%20Tuck%20them%20underneath%20your%20folded%20edges%20with%20the%20smooth%20side%20up.%20Make%20sure%20they%20are%20all%20the%20way%20to%20the%20edge%20so%20that%20when%20you%20sew%20the%20hem%20edges,%20you%20will%20catch%20the%20triangle%20pieces%20underneath.%20Pin%20in%20place.%20And%20yes,%20if%20you%20are%20using%20a%20thick%20fabric%20like%20canvas,%20it%20is%20hard%20to%20get%20the%20pin%20into%20that%20corner.%20But%20do%20it%20anyway.%2011-After%20all%20four%20corner%20pieces%20are%20pinned%20in%20place,%20it%E2%80%99s%20time%20to%20sew.%20I%20like%20to%20make%20my%20stitches%20as%20close%20to%20the%20inside%20folded%20edge%20as%20I%20can.%20And%20no,%20my%20stitching%20isn%E2%80%99t%20perfect.%20It%E2%80%99s%20OK.%20No%20one%20can%20see%20this%20side%20when%20you%E2%80%99re%20all%20done.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E12-Now%20you%20have%20four%20corners%20that%20you%20can%20weigh%20down%20in%20the%20event%20of%20wind.%20Which%20in%20Utah%20seems%20to%20be%20every%20picnic%20we%20ever%20have.%20I%20used%20washers,%20but%20if%20you%20are%20picnicking%20in%20the%20boonies%20and%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20washers,%20rocks%20will%20work%20just%20swell.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E13-There%20you%20have%20it.%20A%20picnic%20tablecloth%20that%20stays%20in%20place%20even%20if%20it%E2%80%99s%20breezy%20outside.%20Notice%20that%20I%20said%20breezy.%20If%20you%20get%20hurricane%20winds%20like%20we%20do%20sometimes,%20I%20make%20no%20guarantees%20that%20your%20tablecloth%20(and%20all%20your%20food%20for%20that%20matter)%20won%E2%80%99t%20end%20up%20in%20Timbuktu.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20because%20I%20know%20some%20of%20you%20are%20going%20to%20notice%E2%80%93yes,%20there%20are%20wrinkles.%20I%20did%20iron%20my%20tablecloth.%20But%20someone%20else%20who%20was%20a%20little%20less%20than%20careful%20put%20it%20away.%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20take%20the%20time%20to%20iron%20it%20again%20just%20for%20the%20photo.%20I%20love%20you%20guys,%20but%20not%20that%20much.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELinking%20up%20with:%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
