Receta Pink Citroenade – The Bend and Snap!
As you may already know, Legally Blonde celebrated its 15th anniversary this past Wednesday. Can you believe that it has already been 15 years since Reese Witherspoon stared as Elle Woods, a Valley girl who one-ups her Harvard-bound boyfriend by enrolling at the university’s law school after he jilts her?! I decided we should celebrate with a cocktail so am introducing Pink Citroenade – The Bend and Snap!
While this story line might not seem one that would typically appeal to me, the truth is that it is such a reminder of my youngest daughter; she of the Clueless, New Kids on the Block, Gilmore Girls and Legally Blonde generation. Too old for animated features and too young to go by herself, I sat through many a movie that I might not have chosen to attend by myself so that I could take her. And some of them were just cute enough that I enjoyed them too.
I’ve always liked Reese Witherspoon; she pretty much exudes wholesome so I figure why not and I ended up enjoying it with Lauren, not just for Lauren. I have to admit the bit about bending and snapping was not exactly what I saw myself teaching my daughter that day but it’s become a quintessential memory of that movie and I decided the perfect name for the perky cocktail (yes, perky…watch the clip if you don’t know!)
I know this would be an Elle approved cocktail. Some lime juice, pomegranate simple syrup and ginger beer are mixed with Ketel One’s Citroen (Lemon) Vodka and as pretty as it is; it’s still filled with enough zing to be totally adult in all of it’s pink glory! So fire up Netflix, make yourself and friends a drink or two and laugh along with Elle while she figures out exactly what she got herself in for! Here’s to a lighthearted comedy; some days we need silly to escape from the everyday reality and this works for me and hope it does for you too…Cheers!
