Receta Pinterest Fun Friday: MaryKay's Satin Hands Copy Cat
Pinterest is one of my favorite sites. I can spend hours just looking around at all the crafty and innovative ideas that people come up with. It's actually a terrible place for me to waste a lot of time. I can’t tell you how much inspiration I get from Pinterest and how many different pins I have tired. Each Friday I will be featuring something I have crafted, cooked, or found on Pinterest that I love!
Here is a great idea I found on Pinterest that I thought was worth trying... MaryKay's Satin Hands Copy Cat
I have wanted to try this recipe ever since I found it on Pinterest. A few years ago as part of a Christmas gift I received a bottle of sugar body scrub that if I remember correctly came from Victoria Secret. I loved it. It would leave your hands feeling so amazingly soft.
This scrub is very similar and gives you the same luxurious feeling when you are done using it. The only thing I change from the original pinners recipe is that I added one tablespoon of coconut oil to the mixture. After using this recipe the first time my hands felt soft and exfoliated, but they did feel a bit dried out from the dish soap. The second time I made this recipe I added one tablespoon of coconut oil to the scrub. Not only did this make a world of difference in my hands, but it made the scrub smell even more incredible.
Although the original pinner called this recipe a gardeners scrub I think it would be great for anyone to use. Sometimes your hands just need to feel softer, exfoliated, and luxurious. This scrub will certainly do the trick! Give it a try!!
- Dawn Olay Beauty Hand Renewal
- Pure Cane Sugar
- 1 tbsp. coconut oil
- Jar with a lid
- Butter Knife
Directions:
Take the coconut oil and if it's a sold verses a liquid it needs to be turned back into a liquid form. Heat 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in the microwave just long enough to melt it. Do not get it too hot. Once it's melted sit it aside to cool
To your jar add sugar filling the jar 3/4 of the way full
On top of the sugar slowly add the Dawn Olay Beauty Hand Renewal. I say slowly because you will need to start stirring the sugar and soap together with the butter knife after every couple of tablespoons of soap you add to the sugar.
I caution you that you will not need a lot of soap. If you add too much soap you will have to add more sugar in order to have the correct consistency. So add the soap sparingly
After adding just a few tablespoons of soap add the cooled coconut oil to the jar. Please make sure it's cool or it will melt your sugar and that would mean this is no longer a scrub.
Continue to stir and add soap as needed. You will know when your scrub is at the correct consistency because it will resemble paste when it's done. Once your have gotten the correct consistency replace the lid.
If you are putting this in your bathroom or giving it as a gift consider adding some ribbon to the jar or if you are using a flat glassed jar you could use liquid etching to give your jar a nice design. Adding a label to the jar would also be a nice touch.
