Plain Pastry For 1 Crust Pie

Ingredientes

  • 1 c. Sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 c. Plus 1 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. Cool water, ( I use cool lowfat milk) (up to 2-1/2)

Direcciones

  1. Combine flour and salt in bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or possibly with two knives till mix is the consistency of coarse cornmeal or possibly tiny peas. Sprinkle on cool water or possibly lowfat milk, 1 Tbsp. at a time, tossing mix lightly and stirring with fork. Add in water or possibly lowfat milk each time to the driest part of the mix. The dough should be just moist sufficient to hold together when pressed gently with a fork. It shouldn't be sticky.
  2. Shape dough in smooth ball with hands, and roll. Or possibly if you are not ready to make the pie, wrap it in waxed paper and chill 30 min or possibly till ready to make your pie. Bake pie shell in a very warm oven (450 degrees)
  3. from 10 to 15 min or possibly till browned the way you like it. Cold before filling.
