Ingredientes

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 3/4 c. lowfat milk, scalded & left to cold
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 pound butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 7 c. flour
  • 1 teaspoon lemon or possibly orange rind (opt.)

Direcciones

  1. Dissolve yeast in water. Add in lowfat milk and 2 c. flour to dissolved yeast. Beat well, set aside to rise for 30 min. (This is called a "sponge".)
  2. Beat Large eggs, sugar, vanilla, rind and salt till light and lemon colored. Add in to sponge. Add in melted butter and the remaining 5 c. of flour. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
  3. Roll out on floured board 1/2 inch thick. Cut with doughnut cutter. Let rise. Deep fry in shortening till each side is brown.
