%20as%20I%20remember%20my%20mum%20buying%20packets%20of%20Eat-me'%20ones%20in%20the%20market%20and%20they%20seemed%20to%20hang%20around%20for%20ages!%20Though%20as%20I%20got%20older%20I%20developed%20a%20real%20taste%20for%20them,%20and%20to%20me%20they%20are%20now%20like%20eating%20sweets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99d%20never%20really%20thought%20about%20using%20dates%20in%20savoury%20cooking%20before%20but%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewhen%20planning%20what%20to%20cook%20for%20dinner%20for%20when%20my%20brother%20came%20over%20the%20other%20night;%20post%20visiting%20the%20market%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecoming%20away%20with%203%20packets%20of%20dates%20for%20a%20bargain%20price%20of%20one%20pound,%20this%20idea%20came%20to%20me,%20and%20I%20kind%20of%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewinged%20it%20from%20there!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20didn%E2%80%99t%20really%20measure%20anything%20(no%20surprise%20there!)%20but%20have%20tried%20to%20remember%20what%20quantities%20I%20added.%20Will%20update%20if%20I%20think%20of%20anything%20else!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%20enough%20for%20two%20portions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReady%20in%2015%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3%20pork%20loin%20steaks%20%20-%20I%E2%80%99m%20a%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Egirl%20and%20had%20one,%20two%20for%20my%20brother!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eallow%20to%20bubble%20up%20stirring%20continuously%20until%20the%20sauce%20has%20thickened,%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eserve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20pork%20would%20be%20lovely%20served%20with%20rice,%20but%20I%20was%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eexperimenting%20with%20some%20spare%20ingredients%20so%20ended%20up%20with%20minted%20aubergine%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eslices,%20and%20a%20packet%20of%20new%20potatoes%20in%20garlic%20butter!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOverall%20it%20was%20a%20very%20tasty,%20quick%20and%20simple%20dish%20and%20I%20will%20be%20definitely%20using%20dates%20again%20in%20cooking,%20rather%20than%20sitting%20and%20eating%20them%20all%20straight%20from%20the%20packet!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
