%20new%20recipe%20and%20serves%20as%20my%20first%20entry%20into%20Rachel%E2%80%99s%20Project%20Tasteless%20Contest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBasically%20the%20rules%20for%20the%20Naked%20Chef%20contest%20were%20%E2%80%93%201.%20Take%20everything%20off;%202.%20Put%20on%20an%20apron,%20and%20only%20an%20apron;%203.%20Cook%20something%20delicious.%20%20The%20entry%20post%20must%20include%20photographs%20and%20a%20recipe.%20%20My%20grandma%20reads%20this%20blog%20(hi,%20Nana!)%20so%20my%20pictures%20are%20PG,%20but%20the%20recipe%20is%20shockingly%20good!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20honor%20of%20the%20fun%20contest,%20I%20decided%20to%20try%20a%20recipe%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20building%20in%20my%20head%20for%20the%20past%20couple%20weeks%20%E2%80%93%20Loaded%20Potato%20Soup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20contest%20description,%20Rachel%20specifically%20warned%20against%20cooking%20bacon.%20%20But%20I%E2%80%99m%20an%20island%20girl;%20I%E2%80%99ve%20cooked%20bacon%20in%20a%20bikini!%20%20Bacon%20in%20an%20apron%20(albeit%20only%20an%20apron)?%20%20Pshaw!%20%20Bring%20it%20on,%20I%20thought.%20%20And%20I%E2%80%99m%20glad%20I%20did,%20because%20the%20bacon%20brought%20the%20flavor%20to%20this%20soup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThick,%20satisfying,%20inventive%E2%80%A6..%20sorry%20husband,%20still%20talking%20about%20the%20soup!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20recipe%20(included%20below)%20looks%20a%20little%20long%20(that%E2%80%99s%20what%20she%20said!),%20but%20it%E2%80%99s%20actually%20really%20easy%20(that%E2%80%99s%20what%20he%20said!).%20%20Even%20stopping%20regularly%20to%20try%20to%20keep%20my%20boobs%20out%20of%20the%20photographs%20(a%20good%20policy%20for%20the%20modern%20world%20in%20general)%20we%20finished%20very%20quickly%20(she%E2%80%99d%20never%20say%20that!).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20divine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWash%20potatoes%20and%20pierce%20several%20times%20with%20a%20fork.%20%20Place%20in%20a%20circle%20on%20a%20microwave-safe%20plate.%20%20Microwave%20until%20cooked%20through%20and%20softened,%2012-14minutes%20depending%20on%20your%20microwave.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFinely%20chop%20the%20scallions;%20set%20half%20of%20the%20chopped%20upper%20green%20stems%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile,%20heat%202tsp%20of%20evoo%20in%20a%20large%20saute%20pan%20over%20medium%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20bacon%20until%20it%20is%20browned%20and%20crispy.%20%20Remove%20from%20pan%20and%20roughly%20chop.%20%20Divide%20the%20chopped%20bacon%20into%20two%20piles.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20final%20tsp%20of%20oil%20to%20the%20pan.%20%20Cook%20scallions%202-3minutes,%20until%20softened%20and%20slightly%20translucent.%20%20Remove%20from%20pan%20and%20reduce%20heat%20to%20low.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20butter,%20swirling%20to%20coat%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan.%20%20Sprinkle%20flour%20into%20melted%20butter%20and%20whisk%20vigorously%20to%20combine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20the%20roux%20over%20low%20heat,%20about%203minutes,%20to%20remove%20the%20raw%20taste%20from%20the%20flour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWorking%20in%20four%20batches,%20slowly%20add%20the%20milk%20to%20the%20pan.%20%20Whisk%20vigorously%20and%20make%20sure%20each%20batch%20is%20fully%20combined%20before%20moving%20on%20to%20ensure%20there%20are%20no%20lumps.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERaise%20the%20heat%20to%20medium%20and%20bring%20mixture%20to%20a%20low%20simmer.%20%20Stir%20in%20broth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20a%20fork%20to%20roughly%20mash%20the%20cooked%20potatoes.%20%20Carefully%20add%20to%20pot%20and%20cook%203-5minutes,%20continuing%20to%20mash%20with%20your%20spoon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20in%20cooked%20scallions%20and%20half%20of%20the%20chopped%20bacon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20pan%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20stir%20in%20sour%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDivide%20the%20soup%20into%20four%20bowls%20and%20top%20each%20one%20with%201Tbsp%20cheese%20and%20reserved%20bacon%20and%20scallions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20End.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
