Queen Cake With Toasted Walnut Filling

Ingredientes

  • 1/2 c. Spry or possibly Crisco
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 large eggs, unbeaten
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 3/4 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 T butter
  • 1 T water
  • 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
  • 3/4 c. walnuts, minced and toasted

Direcciones

  1. Put together shortening, salt and vanilla. Add in sugar gradually and cream till light and fluffy. Add in large eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add in baking pwdr to flour and sift 3 times. Add in small amounts of flour to creamed mix, alternately with lowfat milk, mixing after each addition till smooth. Pour batter into two 8-inch layer pans greased with shortening. Bake in moderate 375 degree oven 20 to 25 min.Spread Toasted Walnut Filling between layers and Seafoam Icing on tops and sides of cake.
  2. Put together brown sugar, salt, butter and water in top of double boiler and heat till sugar is dissolved. Pour over egg yolk. Return to double boiler and cook till thickened, stirring constantly. Cool. Add in walnuts, spread between layers.
