%20for%20A%20Taste%20of%20Harmony%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20Friday,%2022%20March,%20our%20work%20hosted%20A%20Taste%20of%20Harmony%20morning%20tea,%20an%20event%20which%20celebrates%20diversity%20in%20Australian%20workplaces%20by%20encouraging%20colleagues%20to%20share%20food%20and%20stories%20from%20different%20cultural%20backgrounds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20most%20of%20my%20colleagues%20are%20Australian,%20I%20decided%20to%20delve%20back%20into%20my%20ancestry%20and%20make%20a%20German%20treat.%20%20I%20chose%20Quick%20Plum%20Cake%20from%20p58%20of%20Dr%20Oetker's%20German%20Baking%20Today.%20%20This%20cake%20comprises%20a%20light%20cakey%20bottom%20topped%20with%20plum%20halves,%20with%20a%20crumble%20on%20top.%20%20It%20went%20down%20a%20treat,%20and%20all%20of%20it%20was%20gone%20bar%20one%20slice%20by%20the%20time%20that%20I%20made%20it%20to%20the%20morning%20tea.%20%20I%20tasted%20a%20sliver%20off%20that%20slice%20and%20saved%20the%20rest%20for%20one%20of%20my%20friends.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20is%20a%20rather%20handsome%20cake%20and%20is%20easy%20to%20make.%20%20I%20used%20tinned%20plums%20instead%20of%20fresh%20plums,%20and%20I%20don't%20think%20that%20this%20was%20detrimental%20to%20the%20finished%20product.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20make%20this%20cake,%20you%20will%20need:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20your%20oven%20to%20180%20degrees%20Celsius.%20%20Grease%20and%20line%20the%20base%20of%20a%2026cm%20springform%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20cake,%20sift%20together%20the%20flour%20and%20baking%20powder%20into%20the%20bowl%20of%20a%20stand%20mixer,%20add%20all%20the%20other%20ingredients,%20then%20mix%20together%20on%20a%20low%20setting%20to%20just%20combine%20the%20ingredients%20before%20mixing%20thoroughly%20on%20high%20for%20%202%20minutes%20or%20until%20the%20batter%20is%20smooth.%20%20Spread%20the%20batter%20over%20the%20base%20of%20the%20prepared%20springform%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHalve%20and%20stone%20the%20plums,%20and%20arrange%20on%20top%20of%20the%20cake%20batter,%20cut%20side%20up,%20so%20that%20the%20plums%20overlap.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20crumble,%20sift%20the%20flour%20into%20a%20mixing%20bowl,%20then%20stir%20through%20the%20cinnamon,%20sugar%20and%20zest.%20%20Rub%20in%20the%20butter%20until%20the%20mixture%20hasd%20a%20crumbly%20consistency.%20%20Sprinkle%20the%20crumble%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20plums.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20cake%20into%20the%20preheated%20oven%20and%20bake%20for%20aorund%2050%20minutes%20or%20until%20cooked%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20cake%20from%20the%20oven,%20unclip%20the%20ring%20from%20the%20springform%20pan,%20and%20allow%20the%20cake%20to%20cool%20on%20a%20wire%20rack.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20with%20icecream,%20cream%20or%20yoghurt,%20or%20eat%20generous%20slices%20just%20as%20they%20are.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
