Receta Real Deal Apple Martini & a G-Free Foodie Giveaway
Yes, I know it’s a MONDAY and I usually share a cocktail recipe on FRIDAY, but it’s summer. And in summer one has the risk of losing track of days, losing track of time, losing track of her children. (OK that only happened once). In summer, we have the freedom to mix it up a little…to go wild and do things out of order (like have pancakes for dinner).
So here we are, on a Monday, and I have another fabulous cocktail recipe from my friends over at G-Free Foodie. In addition to that, they are going to give one of their awesome, gourmet, gluten-free (obviously), subscription food boxes to one lucky reader. What I love about these boxes is that they aren’t necessarily going to be full of typical gluten-free stuff…like the crackers, mixes and bars, but rather they are jam-packed with gourmet finds–sauces, chocolate, oils, vinegars–many foods that are naturally gluten-free (and yes verified to make sure they are safe for celiacs).

Now back to the cocktail, KC calls it The Real Deal Appletini. It’s got spiced rum, good quality apple juice and cinnamon infused simple syrup. KC firmly believes that real apple martinis shouldn’t be florescent green, and I have to agree. Here is how she makes this scrumptious cocktail.
I think it tastes just like apple pie. And with all the Independence Day celebrations coming fast upon us, you can’t get much more American than apple pie, right? Cheers!

Real Deal Apple Martini
This apple martini by KC of G-Free Foodie is the real deal, not that sickly green version so often served in bars. Rich and spicy, it almost tastes like a slice of apple pie. Cheers!
Ingredients
- For the cinnamon simple syrup:
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- For the cocktail:
- 2 ounces good quality apple juice
- 1 1/2 ounces spiced rum (Captain Morgan, Voodoo or similar)
- 1 ounce cinnamon infused simple syrup
Instructions
Place the sugar water and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5-8 minutes, depending on how strong you want the cinnamon flavor to be. Remove from heat and cool completely. May be stored for up to 1 month in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
Make the cocktail. Place the apple juice, rum and cinnamon infused simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain drink into a martini glass. Serve immediately, garnished with a cinnamon stick or apple slice, if desired.
