%20and%20flavored%20it%20with%20Nutella%E2%80%A6.%20The%20result%E2%80%A6%20absolutely%20fabulous%E2%80%A6%20genius..%20true%20genius%E2%80%A6%20she%20suggests%20toasting%20hazelnuts%20and%20crushing%20them%20to%20use%20as%20a%20garnish%E2%80%A6%20a%20terrific%20idea%E2%80%A6%20I%20omitted%20it,%20however%E2%80%A6%20we%20have%20nut%20issues.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETIPS%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%E2%80%99re%20having%20a%20dinner%20party%20this%20summer%20and%20want%20to%20dazzle%20your%20guests%20%E2%80%A6%20make%20this%20gelato%E2%80%A6%20serve%20it%20in%20a%20fancy%20glass%E2%80%A6%20add%20a%20gourmet%20cookie%E2%80%A6%20you%20will%20be%20the%20star%20for%20sure%E2%80%A6.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20a%20word%20of%20warning%E2%80%A6%20people%20do%20have%20nut%20allergies%20%E2%80%A6%20so%20even%20though%20they%20don%E2%80%99t%20show..%20the%20Nutella%20contains%20hazelnuts%E2%80%A6%20be%20sure%20no%20one%20has%20an%20allergy%E2%80%A6.%20AND%20people%20have%20digestive%20issues%20with%20nut%20pieces%20as%20well%E2%80%A6%20so%20before%20you%20sprinkle%20anything%20with%20nuts%E2%80%A6%20be%20sure%20everyone%20can%20have%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20just%20fabulous%E2%80%A6%20you%20really%20need%20to%20try%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe:%20Chocolate-Hazelnut%20Gelato%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20you%20need:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20you%20need%20to%20do:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(I%20used%20my%20standing%20mixer)%E2%80%A6%20beat%20the%20egg%20yolks%20and%20%C2%BC%20cup%20sugar%20for%20about%204-5%20minutes%20until%20the%20eggs%20are%20thick%20and%20pale%20yellow.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20milk,%20cream%20and%20sugar%20in%20a%20small%20saucepan.%20Cook%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20the%20sugar%20is%20dissolved%E2%80%A6%20stir%20constantly%20(about%205%20minutes).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20%C2%BD%20cup%20of%20the%20warm%20milk%20mixture%20into%20the%20egg%20yolks%20and%20use%20a%20whisk%20to%20mix%20completely%20then%20pour%20it%20back%20into%20the%20saucepan%E2%80%A6.%20Don%E2%80%99t%20whisk%20it%E2%80%A6%20stir%20it%E2%80%A6%20the%20whisk%20is%20just%20a%20good%20tool%20to%20use%20to%20get%20it%20mixed%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20over%20very%20low%20heat%20until%20the%20mixture%20becomes%20thick%20enough%20to%20coat%20the%20back%20of%20a%20spoon%20(about%207-10%20minutes).%20I%20stirred%20this%20constantly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20a%20strainer%20over%20a%20medium%20to%20large%20bowl.%20%20Suggestion:%20%20I%20used%20a%20batter%20bowl%20with%20a%20spout%20this%20will%20make%20it%20easier%20to%20pour%20into%20the%20ice%20cream%20maker%20after%20it%20was%20chilled.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20straining%20the%20warm%20mixture%20into%20the%20bowl,%20add%20the%20vanilla%20extract%20and%20Nutella.%20Stir%20until%20the%20Nutella%20dissolves%E2%80%A6.%20Be%20sure%20to%20mix%20it%20well%E2%80%A6..%20I%20used%20a%20whisk%20to%20stir%20it%20to%20get%20all%20the%20chocolate%20off%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20bowl%E2%80%A6%20the%20mixture%20will%20look%20like%20a%20light%20colored%20chocolate%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChill%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20for%20several%20hours.%20Note:%20%20My%20mixture%20developed%20a%20little%20skin%20on%20the%20top%E2%80%A6%20I%20whisked%20it%20into%20the%20mixture%20as%20well%20as%20I%20could..%20there%20were%20some%20dark%20flecks%E2%80%A6%20but%20after%20freezing%20in%20the%20ice%20cream%20maker,%20they%20disappeared.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20mixture%20is%20completely%20chilled%E2%80%A6%20pour%20into%20the%20ice%20cream%20maker%20and%20follow%20the%20manufacturer%E2%80%99s%20instructions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20have%20the%20same%20Cuisinart%20ICE-20%20model%20as%20I%20do%E2%80%A6%20flip%20the%20machine%20on%20and%20pour%20the%20mixture%20through%20the%20spout.%20Allow%20the%20machine%20to%20freeze%20for%2030%20minutes.%20The%20gelato%20will%20have%20the%20same%20consistency%20as%20soft%20serve%20ice%20cream%E2%80%A6%20scoop%20the%20gelato%20into%20a%20freezer%20container%20and%20freeze.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20gelato%20should%20freeze%20hard%20but%20it%20will%20be%20a%20bit%20softer%20than%20ice%20cream%20freezes.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
