%20and%20most%20of%20these%20snacks%20are%20too%20salty%20for%20my%20taste.%20So%20on%20this%20occasion,%20I%20used%20half%20a%20cup%20of%20mixed%20flavoured%20peanuts,%20rather%20than%20fresh%20groundnuts%20and%20the%20rest%20of%20rhe%20ingredients%20balanced%20out%20the%20saltiness%20and%20the%20flavours%20added%20to%20the%20groundnuts,%20added%20to%20the%20chutney%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20chutney%20can%20be%20served%20with%20idlis%20and%20dosas%20/%20poli%20like%20any%20other%20chutney.%20It%20also%20tastes%20great%20with%20rotis%20and%20its%20high%20in%20protein.%20Most%20kids%20love%20nuts,%20so%20they%20will%20love%20this%20chutney%20too%20and%20believe%20me%20when%20I%20say%20that%20it%20is%20much%20easier%20and%20faster%20to%20grind%20than%20coconut,%20even%20if%20you%20are%20using%20a%20food%20processor%20/%20mixi.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%20:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod%20:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoast%20the%20raw%20groundnuts%20in%20a%20hot%20pan%20till%20cooked%20and%20skin%20them%20(you%20can%20leave%20the%20skin%20on,%20but%20we%20don't%20like%20the%20taste)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20are%20using%20roasted%20masala%20groundnuts,%20you%20can%20skip%20this%20step.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20if%20you%20have%20leftover%20roasted%20nuts%20that%20have%20gone%20a%20bit%20soft,%20then%20re-roasting%20them%20helps.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%201/2%20tsp%20oil%20saute%20the%20chopped%20onion,%20garlic%20and%20red%20chillies%20till%20slightly%20brown.Cool%20the%20fried%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20cooled,%20add%20it%20to%20the%20mixi%20with%20the%20skinned%20peanuts%20and%20the%20tamarind%20pulp.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhizz%20until%20it%20reaches%20your%20desired%20consistency.%20I%20like%20it%20slightly%20grainy,%20but%20some%20prefer%20it%20completely%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20may%20need%20to%20add%20a%20little%20water%20to%20help%20the%20grinding%20process%20if%20it%20gets%20too%20dry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20salt%20to%20taste%20(if%20use%20flavoured%20groundnuts,%20remember%20they%20will%20already%20have%20salt,%20so%20adjust%20accordingly)%20and%20give%20it%20a%20quick%20spin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20chutney%20out%20in%20a%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20seasoning%20pan,%20heat%201%20tsp%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20hing%20powder.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20it%20dissolves,%20add%20the%20urad%20dhal%20and%20fry%20till%20it%20turns%20light%20brown.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20mustard%20seeds%20and%20the%20curry%20leaves%20and%20let%20the%20seeds%20splutter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20this%20tempering%20over%20the%20chutney.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20the%20chutney%20with%20idlis%20and%20dosas%20/%20poli%20or%20with%20phulkas%20and%20dhal.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20chutney%20keeps%20well%20in%20the%20fridge%20too%20for%20about%20a%20week.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote:%20The%20pictures%20above%20show%20quantities%20for%201/2%20cup%20peanuts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKim's%20Tip%20:%20The%20water%20used%20to%20wash%20the%20mixi%20/%20grinding%20stone%20can't%20be%20added%20to%20the%20chutney%20as%20it%20will%20become%20too%20watery,%20but%20you%20can%20use%20it%20to%20knead%20atta%20for%20rotis%20and%20give%20your%20rotis%20a%20different%20flavour.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
