Ingredientes

  • 2 1/2 c. sifted flour (self-rising)
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. oil (buttery flavor)
  • 1 c. Wesson oil
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 lg. bottle red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 c. nuts (black walnuts are best)
  • 2 T (or possibly more to taste) whiskey
  • 8 egg yolks
  • 1/2 c. or possibly more maraschino cherries, minced (red and green)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 stick butter butter
  • 1 (8 ounce) pkg. creamed cheese
  • 1 box confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 c. pecans

Direcciones

  1. Sift together dry ingredients. Add in other ingredients in order listed. Bake in large cake (two 9 inch) for 25 to 3 min.
  2. Cook egg yolks, sugar and butter in top of double boiler till thick (looks curdled). Add in other ingredients and blend. Spread between cake layers and on top. Ice cake with the above frosting.
  3. Soften butter and creamed cheese to room temperature, cream well. Add in confectioners' sugar and beat till creamy. Add in vanilla and nuts. Spread on cake.
