Receta Restaurant Review: Stackers Burger Cafe
by jerellt abenoja

Aside from our planned staycation in Alabang, we also made sure to explore the place to get ourselves some gastronomic adventures. My husband and I fell in love with Alabang. It gives you the I-am-still-in-Metro-Manila kind of vibe yet you also feel secluded and protected from the other noisier cities of Metro Manila. And aside from that, every corner seems to be a safe haven of a restaurant just waiting to be discovered. After our very sumptuous lunch at Sai-Bachi, we decided to go to Alabang Town Center and search for a place to have our dinner.

Fortunately, the hotel we were staying offers free transfers around Alabang. So in less than 3 minutes, and countless of times that I felt like vomiting because I felt like the car was running on 300 kph, we reached ATC safe and sound. Promise, halimaw mag-drive si Kuya!!!

Anyway, it was a Sunday night so ATC was literally packed. Because we were all unfamiliar with the place, we just walked around and surveyed the area. Joie initially suggested we go to Bulgogi Brothers. But when we arrived, the queue was just crazy! Abot hanggang SLEX ang pila! :p We then saw a Chinese restaurant and Stackers Burger Café.

Me: O saan na tayo?

Jeff, Joie, Boyet: Kahit saan.

Me: O sige, ako Stackers!

Jeff: Halika, Stackers tayo. Kaunti kasi tao sa (insert name of Chinese restaurant), malamang hindi masarap.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Because I went to Stackers for their burgers, it took me a while to choose from their menu. I wanted to try everything! After minutes of trying to make up my mind, I decided to try Jack Burger. Joie also got the same thing. Hihi.

Jack Burger (Single) PHP185

Jack Burger has loads of Monterey Jack cheese, sautéed mushrooms and crispy bacon. To say that I love the cheese would be an understatement. I love how it complements the ranch dressing. I didn’t mind licking my fingers just to save all the drippings. The burger patty was really juicy, but there was nothing extraordinary about it. Joie agreed with me. I could actually taste the bacon more than the patty. But the weakness of the patty was definitely saved by the burger bun! While we were trying to figure out what was special about our burger, we saw a poster hanging on the wall bragging about how good their burger buns are. And I must say, Stackers isn’t lying! The burger bun was just oh-so-good! There’s a hint of sweetness in it.

Joie and I upgraded our burger meal to add chips and drinks. For PHP65, we got 16oz drink and fries. We added PHP10 for the powdered flavoring.

Fries (Sour Cream and Cheddar)

It comes with a paper bag and powdered flavoring of your choice. I decided to have sour cream and cheddar while Joie had the Jalapeno. You simply place the fries and the powdered flavoring into the bag, then shake it. You may do this while singing, "Look up! Look up! Shake! Shake! Shake!" Bwahahaha! :p Anyway, I actually liked the Jalapeno more than the sour cream and cheddar. Hihi.

The boys skipped burger and opted to try the Baked Fried Chicken.

Baked Fried Chicken (2pc) PHP165

First of all, the chicken was huge! And it is definitely crispier and more flavorful than the ordinary fried chicken that we grew up with. I love that the chicken isn’t too oily. You still get the crispy skin and moist meat without the yucky taste of cooking oil.

With burgers, fries and chicken, how bad can life be?! =)
