%20the%20form%20is%20certainly%20unique.%20Instead%20emulating%20a%20potato%20chip,%20So%20Long%20decided%20to%20just%20extrude%20long%20sheets%20of%20potato%20substrate%20and%20sell%20them%20just%20like%20that.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20what%20you%20get%20is%20a%20long,%20thin%20package%20of%20seven-inch-long%20tater%20crisp%20rectangles%20as%20shown%20in%20the%20photo%20at%20right.%20The%20package%20says%20that%20they're%20made%20in%20Latvia,%20so%20we%20had%20a%20good%20time%20speculating%20that%20perhaps%20these%20might%20be%20made%20with%20some%20clanky%20Soviet%20technology%20left%20over%20from%20the%20Cold%20War.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOkay,%20so%20they%20look%20funny.%20How%20do%20they%20taste?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESea%20Salt:%20Pretty%20standard,%20lightly%20salted%20dehydrated%20potato%20taste.%20Not%20nearly%20as%20starchy-tasting%20as%20Pringles,%20and%20not%20as%20salty%20as%20Munchos,%20they%20have%20a%20flavor%20profile%20remarkably%20similar%20to%20cheap%20instant%20mashed%20potatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBBQ:%20Most%20barbecue-flavored%20potato%20chips%20and%20crisps%20go%20pretty%20heavy%20on%20the%20tomato%20powder%20and%20add%20lots%20of%20sugar%20and%20smoke%20flavoring.%20I%20don't%20like%20BBQ%20chips%20very%20much.%20%20So%20Long%20BBQ%20chips,%20in%20contrast,%20are%20much%20more%20subtle%20and%20very,%20very%20light%20on%20the%20tomato.%20There%20is%20a%20light%20aroma%20and%20taste%20of%20smoke,%20but%20they're%20much%20less%20aggressive%20than%20the%20usual%20product.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESour%20Cream%20and%20Onion:%20Here%20again,%20the%20flavor%20is%20exceptionally%20subtle,%20almost%20to%20the%20point%20where%20it%20isn't%20very%20noticeable.%20The%20sour%20tang%20is%20a%20mere%20hint,%20and%20there's%20hardly%20any%20onion%20flavor%20at%20all.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECheddar%20Cheese:%20And%20once%20again,%20the%20flavor%20here%20is%20more%20of%20a%20suggestion%20than%20a%20demand.%20You%20can%20tell%20they're%20supposed%20to%20be%20cheese,%20though,%20because%20they%20have%20a%20faint%20orange%20hue%20to%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEach%20packet%20is%20about%202.6%20ounces%20and%20is%20enough%20for%20two%20or%20three%20people%20to%20share.%20The%20regular%20retail%20price%20at%20Ocean%20State%20is%20a%20dollar%20a%20package%20(too%20high,%20IMO)%20but%20the%20sale%20price%20I%20bought%20them%20at%20was%203%20for%20$1.00%20(great%20for%20buying%20some%20for%20review.)%20They%20were%20okay,%20but%20so%20unexceptional%20that%20I%20won't%20go%20out%20of%20my%20way%20to%20purchase%20them%20again.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
