Receta Ristorante Pizzeria Molino (Geneva, Switzerland)
Two years ago our Europe trip is filled with pizza and pasta parlour visits as they are the synonymous to fast-food here, this time around we are minimizing our Italian diet but here was our first one. Our first stop on this trip was in Switzerland, I guess you know by now due to Movenpick post, anyways that was is in Zurich where we are today is 276 kilometres away and it’s in Geneva.
Its right smack in the middle of summer when we were here and it’s all sunny everywhere which is great for us, we just escaped the harsh winter in Auckland. Summer here means a perfect time to dine in alfresco style and the perfect place for this is in Place du Molard where it is studded with open air restaurants covered by trees and tents.
There are lots of options but we opted for something Italian so we stopped by at Ristorante Pizzeria Molino
It was full packed outside but none on their indoor premises, luckily there is one table free so we did not waited that long to be seated. Like any Italian restaurant they serve pizza and pasta and since we missed the proper pizza of Europe for two years we did order those with some Caesar salad.
Before our orders get served we were given some sour dough breads served with some chilli infused olive oil. Do you know I love these table breads? In most restaurants I’ve been with most of them are amazing, I just love their texture, its chewy at the same time soft. I barely had a bad experience with this.
A few minutes later the salad arrived and the serving was huge! Enough to feed the whole family.
Then seconds later the pizzas arrived, what we ordered were ham and cheese which is my daughter’s replacement for Hawaiian pizza and some mushroom pizza.
The first bite was spectacular, this is one of the reasons why we love visiting Europe most of the pizzas are amazing, it’s very rare to find a crappy one. The dough was chewy, the thickness is perfect and the mozzarella cheese used is simply phenomenal. The meats used are also not those cheap ham but normally they use good quality prosciutto, the tomatoes used also makes a difference you can differentiate the tarty sweet taste of what they use here.
While we were eating our pizza our pasta started to arrive, first with the carbonara
then with the Neapolitana
Both were amazing, pasta was freshly made and you can definitely tell the difference. Pasta was cook al dente and the sauces are flavourful definitely good ingredients were used in making this great dish.
Definitely this is a good start of our pizza and pasta adventure, though we will try to minimize it and try other local dishes sometimes Italian is such a comfort meal you crave for.
