Receta Roam – Artisan Burgers #RestaurantReview
by Marlene Baird

Roam Artisan Burgers, they serve 100% grass-fed beef, free-range turkey, all-natural bison, elk and an organic veggie burger that taste so delicious.

Roam boasts three locations. Two in San Francisco and one in Lafayette. I had the pleasure of dining at the Lafayette location.

When you approach the building, you can see that it’s bright, airy and pleasant.

The natural wood counter is alluring and the bright red stools are fun. Nice touch having hooks under the bar to hold your purse.

Roam’s beverage line-up: Straus Family Creamery shakes, house-made sodas, wine and kombucha on tap, and local brews. I indulged in the special for the season, Blood Orange Soda.

Their menu is what they refer to as “pasture to plate”. Fresh quality ingredients from local farms, and ranches. Almost all of their products are gluten-free. However, if you have a medical reason to be clear of gluten, just let them know and they will accommodate you. Check out their list of local purveyors.

They have a fantastic list of burgers or you can create your own.

I tried the Sunny Side and the hubby created his own.

Kevin, who was waiting on me told me they come for the burgers, but the salad is out of this world.

Imagine an incredibly fresh Farmer’s Salad, piled high with seasonal produce, I even spotted watermelon radishes in my salad. You can choose to have it served with a trio of burgers skewered alongside your salad.

Working closely with PG&E’s Food Service Technology Center, they have created an environmentally sound restaurant, with energy-efficient appliances, low-VOC paint and reclaimed wood. All in-house orders are served on Heath Ceramics plateware, which is produced locally in an environmentally responsible manner.

They also run a state-of-the art recycling and composting program, with a goal of diverting the majority of waste away from landfills. Food scraps and to-go ware are composted and converted into soil, which is used to grow more food. Their cooking oil is transformed into bio-fuel.

They also have a fantastic selection of sides that you can order. Such as these Truffle Salt and Parmesan fries.

Or the zucchini and onion haystack.

Kevin suggested that I pile them on top of my Sunny Side! I obliged.

As I was winding down my meal, Kevin also reminded me that there was no way I could leave without trying a milk shake. He recommended their Blue Bottle Coffee Milkshake topped with a Marshmallow brulee.

I will admit that I enjoyed my meal so much that I took the hubby there for lunch the very next day.

Now all you locals, give me one good reason why you won’t try this fine establishment.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Marlene
