%20and%20far%20(Maryland)%20to%20celebrate%20this%20long%20awaited%20day%20with%20us.%20%20A%20work%20in%20progress%20for%20weeks,%20the%20menu%20was%20eagerly%20anticipated%20and%20definitely%20a%20group%20effort%20with%20everyone%20down%20to%20the%20youngest%20child%20participating%20in%20some%20way!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPomegranate%20Champagne%20Sparklers%20started%20our%20evening%20as%20multiple%20appetizers%20including%20Greek%20skewers,%20Southwestern%20cheese%20dips%20and%20Baking%20Barrister's%20Bacon,%20Blue%20Cheese%20&%20Pomegranate%20Endive%20Spears%20stirred%20our%20appetites%20for%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGreek%20Skewers%20-%20Cherry%20Tomato,%20Persian%20Cucumber,%20Cubed%20Feta%20drizzled%20with%20a%20garlic%20olive%20oilBacon,%20Blue%20Cheese%20&%20Pomegranate%20Endive%20SpearsMy%20first%20ever%20(and%20very%20successful!)%20attempt%20at%20roasting%20a%20Prime%20Rib%20brought%20a%20beautiful%20main%20dish%20to%20our%20multiple%20dining%20tables.%20%20Tender,%20cooked%20to%20perfection%20and%20impeccably%20flavored%20with%20rosemary,%20garlic%20and%20a%20touch%20of%20thyme%20this%20rib%20roast%20was%20a%20true%20treat,%20stunning%20and%20without%20much%20work!%20%20The%20gift%20of%20a%20lovely%20Zin%20produced%20at%20a%20friend's%20vineyard%20in%20Oakhurst%20beautifully%20complemented%20the%20beef%20and%20kept%20our%20missing%20friends%20Tom%20&%20Fran%20close%20to%20our%20hearts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJuicy%20turkey%20breast%20as%20a%20second%20main%20course%20filled%20out%20our%20menu%20for%20those%20preferring%20a%20lighter%20choice.%20%20Enhancing%20both%20meat%20options,%20one%20neighbor%20arrived%20bearing%20heaping%20platters%20of%20roasted%20root%20vegetables%20and%20another%20bringing%20their%20famous,%20and%20oh%20so%20delicious,%20shirred%20potatoes%20along%20with%20a%20decadent%20Custard%20Cornbread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECustard-Filled%20CornbreadMom,%20arriving%20with%20a%20beaming%20smile%20and%20a%20small%20baking%20dish%20in%20her%20hands,%20passed%20the%20dish%20to%20Liv%20saying,%20%22Go%20ask%20your%20mom%20if%20she%20remembers%20this!%22%20%20Looking%20at%20the%20creamy,%20cheesecake-like%20texture%20with%20the%20soft%20scent%20of%20almond%20I%20threw%20Mom%20a%20curious%20look%20and%20asked%20what%20it%20was.%20%20Grinning,%20she%20replied,%20%D3%A6stkaka.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20vague,%20but%20fuzzy%20memory%20of%20the%20Swedish%20name%20rose%20to%20the%20surface%20in%20my%20mind,%20but%20I%20have%20to%20admit%20that%20I%20don't%20have%20much%20of%20a%20recollection%20of%20the%20sweet,%20creamy%20side%20dish.%20%20The%20room%20chattered%20and%20laughed%20as%20the%20name%20was%20thrown%20around%20a%20few%20times%20and%20we%20all%20eagerly%20awaited%20a%20taste.%20%20First%20bites%20brought%20smiles%20of%20pleasure%20and%20%22Oooohhh's%20and%20Aaaahhh's%22%20from%20the%20crowd%20along%20with%20a%20proclamation%20that%20this%20was%20the%20best%20dish%20of%20the%20meal%20.%20%20(Unfortunately%20I'm%20photoless%20on%20this%20dish,%20but%20will%20post%20the%20delectable%20recipe%20below!).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELindsay%20&%20the%20cheesecake!Not%20to%20be%20forgotten,%20an%20array%20of%20desserts%20filled%20any%20empty%20spaces%20remaining%20in%20our%20stomachs.%20%20Becky%20had%20put%20together%20one%20of%20our%20holiday%20favorites,%20Cooking%20Light's%20Pumpkin%20Streusel%20Cheesecake%20which%20she%20has%20been%20making%20since%201998.%20%20Mom%20contributed%20her%20annual%20Rocky%20Road%20and%20a%20box%20of%20homemade%20fudge%20(Liv's%20pick%20of%20the%20day!)%20which%20we%20combined%20with%20our%20tropical%20Mauna%20Loa%20Macadamia%20Nut%20Brittle,%20and%20Wendy%20(the%20Weekend%20Gourmet's)%20hedonistic%20Peppermint%20Truffles%20for%20our%20bountiful%20dessert%20tray.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHoliday%20Dessert%20Tray,%20Hedonistic%20Peppermint%20Truffles,%20Macadamia%20Brittle,%20Rocky%20Road%20&%20FudgeTruly%20a%20night%20not%20to%20be%20forgotten,%20we%20all%20followed%20Liv's%20lead%20and%20%22Lived%20Life%22%20to%20the%20fullest%20this%20Christmas,%202010.%20%20Heading%20into%20the%20New%20Year%20we%20are%20thankful%20for%20the%20life%20we%20have%20and%20the%20friends%20and%20family%20who%20complete%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESalad%20Prep%20Crew:%20%20Liv,%20Lindsay,%20Rachel%20&%20Babbles%20the%20platapusSpeaking%20of%20thankful...%20I%20must%20make%20mention%20of%20my%20super%20clean%20up%20helper%20Rachel!%20%20Not%20only%20did%20she%20scrub%20her%20mom's%20vegetable%20roasting%20pans,%20but%20armed%20with%20a%20bottle%20of%20cleaning%20spray%20she%20helped%20clean%20my%20counters%20and%20as%20the%20adults%20rested%20their%20tired%20bodies%20with%20a%20much%20needed%20cup%20of%20coffee,%20she%20single%20handedly%20cleaned%20up%20each%20and%20every%20spot%20on%20our%20floor.%20%20I'm%20thinking%20she%20definitely%20deserves%20a%20raise%20in%20her%20allowance%20this%20week!!%20%20;)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMiss%20Rachel,%20clean-up%20girl%20extraordinaire!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20roast%20from%20fridge%20to%20bring%20to%20room%20t
