Rouladen

Rouladen is a traditional German dish. Although there are many variations this is the most loved recipe of my family. It is rolled steak with bacon and onion. Delicious and deserving of seconds!

Ingredientes

  • 5 Flank steaks (flatten and tenderize with meat mallet)
  • 1/2 lb bacon-lean
  • 1 small onion
  • garlic powder
  • dried parsley
  • salt
  • pepper
  • kitchen twine

Direcciones

  1. pound steak to tenderize and flatten
  2. chop bacon and onion-do not cook
  3. season meat with salt, pepper, garlic powder and parsley flakes
  4. add chopped ingredients to center of steak
  5. roll steak corner to corner
  6. tie with twine
  7. brown in dutch oven
  8. add enough water to cover
  9. simmer approx. 2-3 hours on low til tender
  10. reserve broth and make gravy
