.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHome%20to%20my%20precious%20babies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHome%20to%20my%20beautiful%20addition.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20home%20to%20my%20little%20blog.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20love%20home!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI've%20been%20in%20Austin,%20Texas%20attending%20the%20International%20Association%20of%20Culinary%20Professionals%20meeting.%20%20So%20amazing.%20%20And%20yet%20so%20overwhelming.%20%20I%20was%20like%20a%20microorganism%20in%20the%20pond,%20swimming%20around%20with%20the%20likes%20of%20%20Ellie%20Krieger%20and%20Jacque%20Pepin.%20%20%20My%20dear%20friend%20Heather%20designed%20beautiful%20business%20cards%20for%20me,%20but%20I%20felt%20foolishly%20self-conscious%20as%20I%20handed%20them%20out.%20%20Like%20I%20have%20anything%20to%20offer%20these%20people.%20%20But...the%20one%20thing%20I'm%20trying%20to%20walk%20away%20from%20the%20conference%20with%20is%20this:%20%20I,%20as%20one%20of%20tens%20of%20thousands%20of%20food%20bloggers,%20have%20VALUE.%20%20My%20blog%20means%20something%20to%20at%20least%20the%20precious%2080%20darlings%20who%20decide%20to%20pop%20by%20to%20see%20what%20I'm%20cooking%20and%20writing%20about%20on%20a%20regular%20basis.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20celebrate%20the%20beauty%20of%20this%20realization%20and%20the%20excitement%20of%20being%20home,%20I%20decided%20to%20make%20some%20scones%20this%20morning.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EScones%20are%20sweet,%20flaky,%20buttery,%20crumbly%20biscuits.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETranslated:%20%20they%20are%20like%20biting%20into%20heaven,%20if%20one%20can%20imagine%20such%20a%20thing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20they%20are%20easy%20to%20make.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou'll%20need%20flour,%20sugar,%20baking%20powder,%20baking%20soda,%20and%20salt.%20%20And%20butter.%20%20Lots%20and%20lots%20of%20butter.%20%20Plus%20some%20heavy%20cream.%20%20You%20know,%20to%20lighten%20it%20up%20a%20bit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEssential%20step:%20%20employ%20the%20cutest%20little%20helper%20under%20your%20roof.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20give%20yourself%20some%20GRACE%20if%20the%20photo%20isn't%20in%20focus.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20real%20life.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENot%20perfection.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20you%20mix%20the%20dough,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esprinkle%20a%20smooth%20surface%20with%20flour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELiberally.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlop%20out%20about%20half%20of%20the%20dough%20onto%20the%20surface.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20toss%20a%20little%20flour%20on%20top%20of%20the%20plop.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20you'll%20be%20able%20to%20touch%20it%20without%20it%20sticking%20to%20your%20very%20bones.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShape%20into%20a%20%22round.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20the%20round%20in%20half,%20and%20then%20into%20quarters.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EArrange%20on%20a%20parchment%20paper-lined%20baking%20sheet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20an%20egg%20wash,%20if%20desired%20(egg%20+%20cream%20to%20brush%20on%20top%20to%20give%20a%20yummy,%20shiny%20brown%20finish).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20your%20other%20cutest%20little%20helper%20%22paint%22%20the%20scones.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20400%20degrees%20for%2020%20minutes,%20until%20firm%20and%20golden.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Firm%20and%20golden:%20%20I'd%20like%20someone%20to%20describe%20me%20that%20way,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eespecially%20during%20swimsuit%20season.%20%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20only%20used%20the%20egg%20wash%20on%20the%20eight%20scones%20on%20the%20left.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESee%20the%20difference?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnjoy%20with%20your%20cuties.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20flour,%20sugar,%20baking%20powder,%20baking%20soda,%20and%20salt.%20%20Add%20the%20butter,%20and%20with%20a%20pastry%20blender%20or%20your%20fingers,%20press%20the%20cubes%20and%20break%20them%20up%20into%20the%20flour%20mixture%20until%20the%20mixture%20is%20crumbly.%20%20Pour%20in%20the%20cream%20just%20until%20the%20flour%20is%20moistened%20and%20the%20dough%20starts%20to%20come%20together%20in%20large%20clumps%20(you%20might%20not%20have%20to%20use%20the%20full%202%20cups).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGenerously%20sprinkle%20flour%20on%20a%20working%20surface%20(countertop,%20cutting%20board,%20etc.).%20%20Divide%20dough%20in%20half%20(for%20large%20scones)%20or%20in%20quarters%20(for%20smaller%20scones).%20%20Place%20dough%20on%20floured%20surface%20and%20then%20add%20additional%20flour%20(about%20a%20tablespoon)%20to%20the%20%20top%20of%20the%20dough.%20%20Pat%20the%20dough%20into%20a%20thick,%20rough%20circle%20(called%20a%20%22round%22).%20%20Cut%20the%20circle%20in%20half.%20Then%20cut%20each%20half%20in%20quarters.%20%20Repeat%20with%20remaining%20dough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELine%20a%20baking%20sheet%20with%20parchment%20paper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20prepare%20the%20egg%20wash,%20lightly%20beat%20an%20egg%20with%20a%20fork%20and%20then%20mix%20in%20the%20cream.%20%20Using%20a%20pastry%20brush,%20%22paint%22%20the%20scones%20with%20the%20mixture%20prior%20to%20baking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20400%20degrees%20for%2020%20minutes%20(for%20larger%20scones;%20about%2010-12%20minutes%20for%20the%20smaller%20size).%20%20Scones%20should%20be%20golden%20brown%20an
