Receta Sesame Honey Crackers
by Gourmet Mama

When I was little, my mother used to take us to a health food store. I recall the smell of vitamins and dried fruit to this day, but the really special thing about this store was a little basket of sesame crackers by the door. If we didn’t run around and behaved ourselves, Mom would buy us each a little packet with two sweet crackers. I loved those things, but we moved and I never tasted them again.

Until the other day, when I was thinking about them and wondered if there might be a recipe for them online. And sure enough, I found several! Turns out the sweetener was honey, though some use sugar, as well. So I made up some of these sweet crackers for my own children and watched them savor the exact same flavor that I loved as a child.

Sesame Honey Crackers

makes about 12 crackers

In a saucepan, heat the honey and the margarine. Once it starts to boil, stir constantly until the honey turns brown. It will be mostly foam by this time.

Remove from the heat, add the sesame seeds immediately and stir. Pour onto greased tinfoil and spread to about 1/2 cm. thick. Let the mixture cool and crack into pieces. These are best eaten immediately, since they get pretty sticky after a day out. You could also put them in an airtight container, between layers of wax paper and store in the fridge.
