Receta She Shoots, She Scores cookbook review
by Liliana Tommasini

She Cooks, She Scores by Jennifer F. Stoker features entertaining stories about her relationships with family, friends and past boyfriends that inspired the recipes included in the cookbook.

Jennifer Stoke shares her passion for cooking in the six chapters of her cookbook: Life Altering Recipes; The Ex’s, Family, Happy Endings, and the Sweet Spot. These chapters feature a range of recipes such as Emma’s Tomato Sauce, Wine Cooler Chicken, Veal Osso Bucco with Gremolata, Grilled Pizzas with an Assortment of Toppings, Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Eggplant Puree, and Apple Bourbon Bread Pudding with Cinnamon Ice Cream.

The 80 recipes are well written and easy to follow with step-by-step directions and produce dishes with incredible flavor. The list of healthy ingredients listed in each recipe that produce amazing flavours, can be easily found at your local supermarket. Beautiful color photographs throughout the cookbook accompany the recipes and their wonderful stories. Valuable cooking tips are also included throughout the book. I made the Grilled Pizzas with an Assortment with Toppings recipe. It was a huge success with my family. Since the recipe calls for pre-made pizza dough, only the preparation of the toppings is required before grilling the pizza.

I really enjoyed reading Jennifer’s heart-warming story of how she learned to cook from her Italian Grandmother Emma. Since I am of Italian descent, it brought wonderful memories cooking alongside my Mother recipes that were passed down from generation to generation.

She Cooks, She Scores makes a great addition to any cookbook shelf for both novice and advanced cooks. It not only includes easy to make recipes with amazing flavor, it also makes a good read.
