Ingredientes

  • 6 c. water
  • 6 c. lowfat milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp freshly grnd white pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. white grits (NOT instant or possibly Quick Cooking)
  • 16 ounce finely grated white cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 lb fresh shrimp, shelled and de-veined
  •     Salt and Pepper to taste

Direcciones

  1. In a large saucepan, over medium heat, combine the water, lowfat milk, salt, pepper and 2 Tbsp. of the butter. Bring the liquid to a gentle boil. Stir in the grits. Cook for 1 hour and 15 min, stirring occasionally. (**The grits will stick to the bottom of the pan, so make sure not to scrape the bottom of the pan. If the grits absorbed all of the water, add in some warm water to thin out the grits.) Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the remaining 2 Tbsp. butter and cheese if you like.
  2. In a separate pot add in shrimp to boiling water. Cook for 3 min. Add in shrimp to grits and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Yield: 8 servings
