  1. Sift flour once, add in baking soda and salt and sift again. Cut in shortening. Add in sufficient lowfat milk to make a stiff dough. Turn onto floured board. Knead slightly. Roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutters. Bake in warm oven (475 degrees) 15 min. Makes 12 biscuits.
