%20and%20I%20stopped%20breathing...in%20total%20disbelief%20as%20I%20tugged%20on%20the%20rack%20and%20witnessed%20the%20soppy%20center%20sloshing%20around.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20mind%20raced....did%20I%20set%20the%20timer%20right?%20Forget%20to%20put%20in%20an%20ingredient?%20Did%20I%20measure%20everything%20correctly?%20Is%20my%20oven%20ON?%20(oh%20yes....the%20heat%20is%20steaming%20up%20my%20glasses,%20it's%20definitely%20on).%20I%20double%20checked%20the%20recipe...everything%20looks%20good%20there.%20So%20I%20got%20out%20my%20oven%20thermometer,%20pushed%20the%20rack%20back%20in,%20along%20with%20my%20mess%20and%20reset%20the%20timer%20(a%20few%20times)......%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAaaaand%20that's%20when%20I%20broke%20out%20the%20bourbon.%20It%20was%20well%20past%205:00pm,%20so%20it%20was%20an%20overdue%20action%20anyway.%20(But%20that's%20another%20story%20for%20a%20different%20post).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20could%20tell%20the%20cake%20was%20finally%20cooked%20when%20it%20smelled%20delicious%20as%20the%20aroma%20filled%20the%20house.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways...the%20moral%20of%20this%20story%20is...when%20things%20aren't%20going%20right...don't%20just%20give%20up.%20Think%20a%20minute...try%20and%20salvage%20the%20situation%20before%20you%20toss%20in%20the%20towel.%20I%20mean...what's%20the%20worse%20that%20could%20happen?%20You%20might%20have%20to%20toss%20it%20anyway.%20But....maybe%20not....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThank%20God%20that%20wasn't%20the%20case%20this%20time%20because%20the%20is%20one%20good%20coffee%20cake.%20Especially%20if%20you're%20a%20honey%20lover....as%20in%20Pooh%20bear%20kind%20of%20honey%20lover.%20I%20suggest%20you%20use%20your%20favorite%20honey%20for%20this%20recipe%20if%20you%20can't%20get%20Sonoran%20honey.%20But%20then%20again....is%20there%20such%20a%20thing%20as%20a%20honey%20that%20doesn't%20taste%20good?%20phhht....silly%20bear.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20the%20topping....oooh%20my%20oh%20my.%20It%20almost%20caramelizes%20and%20gets%20crunchy.%20This%20might%20be%20my%20favorite%20streusel.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESonoran%20Honey%20Streusel%20Coffee%20Cake%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efor%20the%20cake:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20together%20the%20butter%20and%20sugar%20until%20light%20an%20fluffy,%20about%205%20minutes.%20Add%20in%20the%20eggs%20and%20vanilla%20and%20continue%20to%20mix%20until%20incorporated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20flour,%20baking%20powder,%20canela%20(or%20cinnamon)%20and%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20dry%20ingredients%20to%20the%20butter%20mixture%20gradually,%20alternating%20with%20the%20honey%20and%20then%20buttermilk.%20Mix%20until%20just%20combined.%20Pour%20into%20your%20prepared%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20using%20your%20fingers,%20combine%20the%20chilled%20butter%20cubes,%20brown%20sugar%20and%20flour%20until%20you%20have%20uniform%20crumbles.%20Sprinkle%20over%20the%20batter%20evenly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2040%20-%2045%20minutes%20or%20until%20a%20cake%20tester%20toothpick%20inserted%20in%20the%20middle%20comes%20out%20clean.%20Allow%20to%20cool%20slightly%20before%20removing%20from%20the%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20and%20serve%20and%20totally%20enjoy%20the%20richness%20of%20this%20coffee%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20now%20for%20some%20more%20good%20stuff.......%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20contest!%20And%20I'm%20not%20the%20only%20one%20giving%20away%20The%20New%20Southwest%20Cookbook.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20are%20more%20than%20a%20dozen%20of%20us%20participating.%20And%20that%20means%20there%20are%20more%20chances%20for%20you%20to%20win.%20Woooo%20hoooo!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Mandatory%20Entry:%20Leave%20a%20comment%20on%20this%20blog%20post%20letting%20me%20know%20what%20your%20favorite%20Southwestern%20dish%20is.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20Rafflecopter%20giveaway%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20post%20is%20part%20of%20The%20New%20Southwest%20Cookbook%20Spotlight%20sponsored%20by%20Hippocreneand%20hosted%20at%20girlichef.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
