When it is about 30° C outside, I can think of no better way to stay cool than by sucking on some tasty soursop ice block. Perfect to suck while I watch “3rd Rock from the Sun” on Netflix. It is really hot these days, and we all must find some way to stay cool. Also, I find it hard to waste a perfectly sunny day by sleeping.
Soursop ice blocks can be a great choice if you need motivation to do something during hot days like these. A few blocks can give you the energy you need to swim a few laps in the swimming pool or river or play some cricket in the road with some friends. Don’t let the hot weather make you lazy.
Soursop Ice Block Recipe
However, this is not the first ice block recipe; some years ago I introduced coconut ice block. The concept is quite similar where lots of milk is added – much like a simple ice cream in a block form. I believe with some ingenuity you can make your soursop ice blocks casein free by substituting milk with almond milk or even almond-coconut milk and a bit of sugar. Soursop pulp can be thick so your final mixture still gets a good thick creamy consistency. The casein free option can be quite refreshing and doubly healthy.
So here is another recipe for our readers. Enjoy!
SOURSOP ICE BLOCK
- 2 cups soursop pulp
- 1/4 cup water ( to help when extracting the pulp)
- 1 cup condensed milk
- 1/8 tsp bitters
Blend the ingredients together, until smooth. Pour the soursop milk into ice trays and freeze.
As an alternative you can use a Popsicle ice tray just like the one shown here.
Delicious! The children will love these.
