South Carolina Sweet Potato Tea Biscuits (Lifetime)

Ingredientes

  • 2 c. All-purpose flour
  • 2 c. Mashed sweet potatoes or possibly yams
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 c. Butter Or possibly shortening
  • 1/4 c. Buttermilk
  • 4 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. Minced pecans, optional

Direcciones

  1. 1.In a bowl sift together flour, salt, sugar, and baking pwdr. Add in butter to flour and mix till you get a grainy consistency. Add in mashed sweet potatoes, pecans and sufficient buttermilk to make a soft but not sticky dough.
  2. 2.Knead the dough on a lightly floured board for 1 minute, then roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into rounds with a 2-inch cutter or possibly use a shot glass or possibly tulip shaped champagne glass.
  3. 3.Place rounds on a lightly greased pan or possibly cookie sheet and bake in a pre-heated 425 degree oven for 15 min. Serve warm with homemade jam and butter.
