For the most part, I've kept my kitchen gadget addiction under control. That is, until I started to see a few blog posts about OXO's Cookie Press. It's been many years since I've made Spritz Cookies. Partly, it's because my 30-year old metal cookie press became separated from some of it's parts. I bought another one, made of clear plastic. I forget the brand, but it broke the first time I used it. Plus, the cookies were okay. But I didn't find them to be anything special.

%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhatever%20you%20do,%20do%20not%20set%20the%20cookie%20dough%20on%20parchment%20paper,%20nor%20should%20you%20grease%20the%20baking%20sheet.%20You'll%20get%20frustrated.%20Trust%20me,%20the%20cookies%20won't%20stick.%20I%20promise.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20made%20an%20almond%20version%20of%20cookie%20dough,%20by%20adding%201/2%20teaspoon%20pure%20almond%20extract%20and%201/2%20teaspoon%20of%20pure%20vanilla%20extract.%20%20I%20decided%20to%20add%20some%20coarse%20sugar%20on%20top,%20for%20texture%20and%20I%20use%20the%20%22Daisy%22%20disk%20for%20this%20version.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20Christmas%20cookies,%20I%20have%20some%20red%20and%20green%20coarse%20sugar.%20This%20batch%20is%20purely%20for%20practice!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20baked%20the%20cookies%20at%20375F%20and%20rotated%20them%20half%20way%20between%20baking%20times--%20which%20turned%20out%20to%20be%20ten%20minutes%20for%20a%20slightly%20golden%20edge.%20%20I%20found%20that%20it%20was%20ideal%20to%20loosen%20each%20baked%20cookie%20after%20a%20few%20minutes%20and%20then%20to%20let%20them%20cool%20for%20a%20few%20more%20minutes.%20Then,%20I%20moved%20them%20to%20a%20cooling%20rack.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20more%20thing--%20don't%20press%20cookies%20onto%20a%20warm%20cookie%20sheet!%20Let%20the%20baking%20sheet%20cool%20completely.%20%20I%20was%20able%20to%20put%20them%20into%20the%20freezer%20to%20speed%20up%20the%20process,%20as%20I%20have%20three%20cookie%20sheets%20and%20wanted%20to%20move%20things%20along.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEach%20batch%20of%20dough%20yielded%20about%205%20dozen%20cookies.%20%20I%20stored%20them%20in%20an%20air%20tight%20container%20and%20the%20next%20morning%20they%20were%20exactly%20the%20same%20as%20when%20they%20were%20freshly%20baked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETASTING%20NOTES:%20%20These%20cookies%20are%20anything%20but%20ho-hum.%20%20The%20vanilla%20version%20was%20buttery%20and%20crispy,%20with%20a%20really%20tender%20crumb.%20My%20son's%20eyes%20lit%20up%20when%20he%20tasted%20them.%20He%20said%20they%20were%20just%20like%20eating%20potato%20chips--%20you%20can't%20eat%20just%20one!%20%20%20I'm%20a%20big%20fan%20of%20almond%20flavored%20sweets,%20so%20I%20favor%20the%20almond%20version.%20%20I%20have%20plans%20for%20other%20flavors--%20like%20chocolate,%20and%20adding%20lemon%20zest%20for%20a%20citrus%20variation.%20I've%20got%20a%20few%20other%20ideas,%20I'll%20keep%20under%20wraps%20for%20now.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20these%20cookies%20are%20considered%20a%20traditional%20Christmas%20cookie,%20I%20think%20they%20are%20delicious%20anytime%20of%20year--%20especially%20with%20tea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20next%20recipe,%20using%20this%20Cookie%20Press%20will%20be%20some%20savory%20cheesy%20crackers%20(er,%20%22biscuits).%20%20You%20will%20be%20the%20first%20to%20know%20how%20they%20turned%20out!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENOTE:%20OXO%20did%20a%20great%20job%20with%20developing%20this%20cookie%20press%20%20I%20like%20the%20press%20down%20lever%20(as%20opposed%20to%20my%20former%20%22twist%22%20handle).%20I%20also%20like%20that%20this%20is%20dishwasher%20friendly.%20OXO%20did%20not%20choose%20me%20to%20receive%20this%20cookie%20press%20for%20free%20(I%20wish).%20%20I'm%20not%20being%20paid%20to%20promote%20this%20product.%20My%20opinions%20are%20truly%20my%20own!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20end%20of%20each%20recipe%20post.%20If%20you%20cannot%20view%20it,%20you%20might%20be%20using%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ean%20older%20version%20of%20InternetExplorer.%20You%20should%20be%20able%20to%20view%20my%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Erecipe%20cards%20with%20Safari,%20Mozilla,%20Google%20Chrome%20and%20Internet%20Explorer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20still%20can't%20view%20the%20recipe%20card,%20all%20of%20my%20recipes%20are%20stored%20on%20Key%20Ingredient,%20by%20clicking%20here.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
