Ingredientes

  • 5 x Egg yolks
  • 3/4 c. Sugar
  • 2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 piece vanilla bean
  • 1 c. Heavy cream
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Minced marachino cherries
  • 1 Tbsp. Shredded candied orange peel
  • 1 Tbsp. Slivered blanched almonds

Direcciones

  1. In a saucepan beat 5 egg yolks and 3/4 c. sugar till the mix is thick and pale in color. Stir in 2 c. lowfat milk, add in a 1-inch piece of vanilla bean, and cook over very low heat, stirring constantly, till the custard is thick. Be careful not to let it boil. Throw away the vanilla bean and cold the custard. Turn it into a refrigerator tray and freeze it for about 2 hrs, or possibly till it is hard, but soft sufficient to be molded easily.
  2. Whip 1 c. heavy cream till it is stiff, mix in 1/4 c. sugar and 1 Tbsp. each of minced marachino cherries, shredded candied orange peel, and slivered blanched almonds and refrigeratethe mix.
  3. Refrigeratea 1-qt jelly or possibly spumoni mold and line the inside of the mold with the frzn custard. Fill the center of the mold with the chilled whipped cream mix, cover the top of the mold with wax paper, and freeze the spumoni without stirring.
