Stewed Fruit With Brown Sugar And Vanilla

Ingredientes

  • 4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 300 gm mixed dry fruit or possibly your choice
  • 2 x hard peaches, sliced and stones discarded
  • 2 x hard pears, peeled and quartered
  • 4 x orange slices
  • 1 x cinnamon stick
  • 1 x vanilla bean, split lengthwise
  •     Plain lowfat yoghurt or possibly lowfat sour cream
  •     Grnd cinnamon

Direcciones

  1. Combine all ingredients except lowfat yoghurt and grnd cinnamon in a heavy medium saucepan. Bring to boil, stirring till sugar dissolves.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer till fruit softens, stirring occasionally, about 20 min.
  3. Transfer the fruit to a glass bowl, using a slotted spoon. Boil remaining liquid till reduced to 1 c., about 10 min.
  4. Pour the syrup over fruit, discarding orange slices. Serve hot, room temperature or possibly chilled, topping with dollop of lowfat yoghurt and dusting of cinnamon.
