Ingredientes

  • 12 x thin slices soft white bread crusts removed
  • 1 pt strawberries washed, minced
  • 6 Tbsp. strawberry jam
  •     Zest from 1 lemon
  • 6 Tbsp. butter melted for brushing
  •     Powdered sugar for garnish
  •     Lowfat sour cream for garnish

Direcciones

  1. In a bowl combine strawberries, jam, and zest. Flatten bread with the palm of your hand or possibly a rolling pin. Mound 1 heaping Tbsp. of the strawberry mix on the center of the bread. Fold bread over strawberries to create a triangle. Brush both sides with melted butter.
  2. Place the turnovers on a sheet tray and bake in a 400 degree oven for about 5 min per side till golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with lowfat sour cream.
  3. Variation: Spread center of bread with 1 tsp. of peanut butter plus strawberry mix.
  4. This recipe yields 12 turnovers.
