%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETom%20yum%20soup%20or%20noodle%20soup%20is%20some%20of%20the%20most%20popular%20Thai%20dishes.%20However,%20what%20you've%20seen%20at%20most%20Thai%20restaurants%20isn't%20what%20I'm%20craving.%20I'm%20craving%20for%20a%20nutty,%20savory,%20and%20sour%20street%20food%20noodle.%20As%20you%20could%20guess,%20what%20is%20served%20at%20a%20Thai%20restaurant%20in%20the%20United%20States%20nowadays%20isn't%20quite%20what%20local%20Thai%20people%20consume.%20I%20love%20street%20food%20and%20the%20night%20market.%20Any%20time%20I%20get%20to%20travel%20outside%20the%20States,%20I%20will%20have%20to%20find%20my%20way%20to%20those%20street%20vendors.%20That's%20how%20you%20know%20what%20the%20%22real%22%20food%20local%20peeps%20eat%20is.%20Not%20all%20of%20them%20are%20common%20dishes%20for%20locals,%20but%20at%20least%20you%20experience%20something%20you%20MUST%20do%20in%20that%20country.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBack%20to%20my%20Tom%20yum%20noodles,%20it%20can%20be%20found%20at%20a%20not-fancy%20restaurant%20in%20Bangkok.%20Places%20that%20are%20not%20easy%20to%20find%20and%20in%20an%20alley%20somehow%20taste%20better%20than%20an%20easy-to-find%20ones.%20I'm%20not%20sure%20if%20it's%20because%20of%20the%20%22mystery%22%20of%20it%20adding%20an%20adventurous%20feeling%20and%20you%20assume%20it%20tastes%20better?%20Like%20the%20secret%20menu%20at%20In-N-Out%20Burgers%20or%20Jamba%20juice?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20would%20recommend,%20if%20you%20have%20a%20local%20friend,%20to%20use%20them%20and%20have%20them%20take%20you%20to%20a%20place%20that%20sells%20this.%20You%20will%20experience%20what%20Tom%20Yum%20Noodles%20are%20supposed%20to%20be!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERice%20noodlesThe%20noodles%20vary.%20Some%20use%20egg%20noodles%20while%20some%20use%20rice%20noodles.%20It%20doesn't%20matter%20because%20what%20matters%20is%20the%20soup.%20It's%20super%20easy%20to%20make.%20To%20make%20Thai%20food,%20you%20need%20to%20have%20lime,%20fish%20sauce,%20and%20sugar%20on%20hand.%20We%20use%20those%203%20ingredients%20in%20almost%20every%20dish.%20For%20the%20toppings,%20you%20can%20add%20from%20deep%20fried%20fish%20skin%20to%20deep%20fried%20wonton.%20Anything%20deep%20fried%20would%20work%20-%20and%20roasted%20peanuts!%20They%20make%20it%20individually%20and%20by%20order.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStreet%20Food%20Tom%20Yum%20Noodle%20Soup%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYield:%202%20(%20feel%20free%20to%20double%20for%20the%20number%20of%20guests%20you%20have)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20all%20the%20ingredients.%20Highly%20recommend%20using%20hands%20to%20mix%20to%20get%20the%20best%20result%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%20for%20pork%20wontons%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6-8%20Wonton%20wrappers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPork%20mixture%20(above)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVegetable%20or%20canoli%20oil%20for%20deep%20frying%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20make%20it%20bigger%20than%20this%20one%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EForm%20pork%20mixture%20to%20a%20ball%20and%20place%20in%20a%20middle%20of%20a%20wrapper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFold%20into%20triangle%20and%20seal%20it%20with%20water%20(see%20photos)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20up%20oil%20in%20a%20pan%20or%20small%20sauce%20pan%20to%20350%20F.%20Deep%20fry%20them%20until%20golden%20brown.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20what%20I%20did%20when%20I%20had%20leftover%20pork%20mixture%20and%20wonton%20wrappers%20-Snacking%20up!Ingredients%20for%20the%20soup%20for%202%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20cups%20chicken%20stock%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20inch%20daikon,%20julience%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tsp%20kosher%20salt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/4%20tsp%20black%20pepper%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%20for%20Tom%20Yum%20soup%20for%202%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4%20tsp%20fish%20sauce,%20divided%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20tsp%20chili%20in%20oil%20or%20more%20if%20you%20like%20more%20spicy,%20divided%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6%20tsp%20sugar,%20divided%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20tbs%20lime%20juice%20or%20more%20to%20taste,%20divided%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tbs%20chopped%20roasted%20peanuts,%20divided%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20bean%20sprouts,%20divided%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6%20stems%20Choysum%20(Chinese%20flowering%20cabbage),%20divided%20-%20Optional%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20lime%20wedges%20for%20garnish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tsp%20chopped%20peanuts,%20divided%20for%20garnish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20lb%20rice%20noodles%20(see%20photo%20above),%20divided%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChili%20in%20Oil%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20up%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20and%20bring%20it%20to%20boil.%20Add%20Knors%20cube%20and%20let%20it%20sit%20until%20it%20dissolves.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20chicken%20stock%20and%20daikon,%20and%20bring%20to%20boil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20wet%20spoon%20to%20scoop%20ground%20pork%20mixture%20and%20drop%20it%20to%20a%20pot%20one%20at%20a%20time,%20and%20add%20fish%20cake%20balls%20if%20used.%20When%20it's%20cooked,%20it%20will%20float%20to%20the%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20meantime,%20add%20fish%20sauce,%20lime%20juice,%20sugar,%20chili%20paste,%20and%20peanuts%20in%20each%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrop%20bean%20sprouts%20and%20choysum%20(if%20using)%20in%20a%20pot.%20For%20bean%20sprouts,%20cook%20for%20a%20few%20mins%20until%20they're%20cooked%20but%20still%20crisp.%20For%20choysum,%20cook%20longer%20until%20cooked%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20cooked%20bean%20sprouts,%20choy%20sum,%20and%20daikon%20on%20top%20of%20seasonings%20(see%20photo)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20a%20slotted%20spoon%20to%20scoop%20out%20cooked%20ground%20pork%20balls%20and%20fish%20cake.%20Place%20them%20into%20each%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20rice%20noodles%20in%20the%20same%20pot%20for%20about%205%20mins%20or%20follow%20the%20package's%20instruction.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20it's%20cooked,%20divide%20them%20in%20each%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20the%20stock%20to%20a%20boil%20again%20and%20pour%20over%20a%20prepared%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGarnish%20with%20peanuts%20and%20a%20lime%20wedge%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20you%20eat,%20mix%20well%20so%20that%20the%20seasonings%20at%20the%20bottom%20will%20mix%20with%20noodles%20and%20the%20soup%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnjoy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote:%20If%20you're%20zero%20tolerance%20of%20spicyness,%20this%20isn't%20an%20ideal%20for%20you.%20You%20could%20leave%20out%20a%20chili%20in%20oil%20but%20then%20it%20wouldn't%20become%20a%20Tom%20Yum%20noodle%20soup.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
