,%20I'm%20just%20beginning%20to%20like%20a%20style%20as%20its%20on%20its%20way%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20other%20day%20I%20was%20walking%20through%20the%20farmers%20market%20and%20saw%20some%20blossoms.%20Apparently%20both%20the%20male%20and%20the%20female%20blossoms%20are%20edible.%20I%20don't%20know%20why%20I'd%20think%20otherwise%20but%20this%20was%20the%20first%20time%20I'd%20seen%20them%20with%20baby%20zucchinis%20still%20attached....a.k.a.%20female%20blossoms.%20I%20usually%20just%20see%20the%20males%20(fruitless%20blossoms).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20above%20female%20blossoms%20were%20$1.25%20for%20the%206%20of%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20then%20learned%20from%20a%20chef%20on%20Facebook%20that%20if%20you%20are%20growing%20your%20own%20zucchini,%20you%20can%20pick%20all%20but%20one%20of%20the%20male%20blossoms.%20Not%20only%20will%20you%20have%20something%20delish%20to%20play%20with%20in%20the%20kitchen%20and%20eat,%20but%20it%20will%20also%20promote%20more%20growth%20in%20your%20plant.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20suggest%20that%20you%20prepare%20and%20eat%20the%20blossoms%20the%20same%20day%20you%20get/pick%20them.%20I%20read%20somewhere%20that%20you%20should%20pick%20them%20in%20the%20morning%20while%20they%20are%20still%20open%20so%20as%20not%20to%20discover%20any%20little%20buggies%20that%20were%20trapped%20inside%20the%20closing%20flower.%20(isn't%20nature%20just%20so%20much%20fun....).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20blossoms%20are%20a%20bit%20delicate...work%20gently%20with%20them%20if%20you%20plan%20on%20stuffing%20them.%20If%20you%20don't%20plan%20on%20stuffing%20them....never%20mind.%20It's%20a%20moot%20point.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet's%20talk%20about%20the%20flavor.%20Mild.%20Nothing%20about%20the%20flower%20itself%20stood%20out...but%20then%20again%20I%20had%20stuffed%20it%20with%20cheese,%20garlic%20and%20lemon%20zest,%20which%20are%20pretty%20strong%20flavors%20in%20themselves.%20Because%20I%20was%20using%20the%20female%20blossoms,%20I%20did%20get%20that%20zucchini%20flavor%20at%20that%20end.%20But%20even%20when%20I%20bit%20the%20tips%20of%20the%20fried%20flower,%20I%20was%20not%20hit%20with%20an%20overwhelming%20flavor%20of%20any%20kind.%20I%20think%20I'd%20have%20to%20eat%20it%20raw%20to%20really%20give%20you%20an%20accurate%20opinion.%20But%20it%20is%20a%20great%20vessel%20for%20a%20delicate%20and%20memorable%20appetizer.%20(even%20Sir%20Sportsalot%20ate%20one....which%20shocked%20the%20hell%20out%20of%20me).%20Now%20I've%20heard%20that%20pumpkin%20flowers%20taste%20like%20wild%20mushrooms.%20Makes%20me%20want%20to%20rush%20out%20and%20buy%20a%20pumpkin%20plant%20for%20my%20garden%20just%20so%20I%20can%20try%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERicotta%20Stuffed%20Zucchini%20Blossoms%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20large%20saucepan%20or%20pot%20with%202%22%20of%20vegetable%20oil%20over%20medium%20-%20high%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20cheese,%20garlic,%20green%20onion%20and%20lemon%20zest%20in%20a%20small%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarefully%20open%20the%20pedals%20of%20the%20flower%20and%20work%20about%201-2%20TB%20of%20the%20cheese%20mixture%20into%20each%20blossom.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20combine%20the%20flour,%20pinch%20of%20salt%20and%20beer.%20Whisk%20until%20almost%20smooth.%20The%20batter%20should%20be%20like%20pancake%20batter,%20with%20a%20few%20lumps.%20Don't%20over%20mix...you'll%20lose%20the%20body%20that%20the%20beer%20provides.%20Feel%20free%20to%20add%20more%20flour%20or%20beer%20if%20needed%20to%20get%20the%20desired%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWorking%20in%20batches,%20carefully%20dip%20and%20roll%20the%20stuffed%20blossoms%20in%20the%20batter.%20allowing%20excess%20to%20drip%20off%20before%20placing%20into%20the%20hot%20oil.%20***BE%20very%20careful%20as%20the%20oil%20will%20spit%20and%20splatter%20due%20to%20the%20wetness%20from%20the%20ricotta%20cheese.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFry%20for%202%20-%203%20minutes,%20turning%20once,%20until%20golden%20brown.%20Remove%20from%20oil%20and%20let%20drain%20on%20rack.%20Sprinkle%20with%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServe%20warm.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
