,%20then%20you%20already%20know%20the%20two%20reasons%20behind%20this%20embarrassingly%20long%20hiatus.%20If%20not,%20welcome,%20and%20let%20me%20share%20our%20joy%20with%20you!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20We%E2%80%99re%20expecting%20again!%20Levi%20is%20going%20to%20be%20a%20big%20brother%20in%20August%20and%20the%20gender%20is%20once%20again%20going%20to%20be%20a%20surprise.%20At%20almost%2029%20weeks%20I%E2%80%99m%20definitely%20far%20enough%20along%20that%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20use%20morning%20sickness%20as%20an%20excuse%20for%20my%20lack%20of%20blogging,%20but%20taking%20care%20of%20a%203%20year%20old%20definitely%20keeps%20me%20busy.%20In%20fact,%20sometimes%20I%20completely%20forget%20that%20I%E2%80%99m%20pregnant,%20until%20I%20look%20down%20and%20notice%20the%20absence%20of%20toes,%20or%20realize%20I%E2%80%99m%20craving%20a%20crisp,%20floral%20IPA%20but%20then%20remember%20that%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20indulge%20just%20yet%20and%20reach%20for%20a%20sparkling%20water%20instead.%20Speaking%20of%20beer%20%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Our%20family%20business,%20Discretion%20Brewing,%20opened%20its%20doors%20in%20early%20March%20after%20a%20year%20+%20of%20planning,%20and%20we%E2%80%99ve%20been%20as%20busy%20as%20bees%20selling%20beer%20(we%20have%207%20now%20on%20tap!)%20and%20small%20plates%20to%20pair%20with%20it.%20Despite%20my%20growing%20belly%20and%20inability%20to%20drink%20beer,%20I%E2%80%99m%20enjoying%20working%20behind%20the%20bar%20as%20a%20Beer%20Bestower,%20as%20well%20acting%20as%20our%20Queen%20of%20Social%20Media%20for%20the%20business.%20Things%20are%20going%20really%20well,%20and%20we%E2%80%99ve%20been%20well-received%20by%20our%20town,%20even%20by%20other%20micro-breweries.%20The%20beer%20community%20is%20an%20awesome%20one.%20If%20you%E2%80%99re%20ever%20in%20Santa%20Cruz,%20we%E2%80%99d%20love%20to%20have%20you!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20you%20can%20see%20why%20our%20dinners%20at%20home%20have%20been%20quick%20and%20easy%20these%20days%20%E2%80%94%20and%20also%20based%20around%20random%20pregnancy%20cravings,%20ranging%20from%20briny%20olives%20[this%20salad]%20to%20cinnamon%20rolls%20[breakfast%20for%20dinner].%20I%E2%80%99ve%20also%20been%20terrible%20at%20photographing%20or%20writing%20anything%20down%20(and,%20as%20you%20know%20if%20you%E2%80%99ve%20been%20pregnant,%20when%20you%E2%80%99re%20hungry,%20you%E2%80%99re%20hungry.%20No%20time%20for%20pictures).%20But%20somehow%20this%20meal%20DID%20get%20photographed.%20I%20guess%20I%20made%20it%20early%20enough%20in%20the%20day%20that%20I%20had%20a%20few%20moments%20to%20spare,%20so%20I%E2%80%99ll%20share%20it%20with%20you.%20Summer%20is%20upon%20is%20(eek%20%E2%80%93%20better%20get%20that%20car%20seat%20purchased%20and%20decide%20on%20a%20name%20for%20this%20baby!)%20and%20this%20salad%20is%20perfect%20for%20a%20warm%20evening%20.%20It%20also%20boasts%20of%20seasonal%20farmer%E2%80%99s%20market%20faire.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESummer%20Nicoise%20Salad,%20My%20Version%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENicoise%20Salad;%20the%20classic%20French%20salad%20is%20usually%20composed%20of%20tuna,%20green%20beans,%20hard-boiled%20eggs,%20tomatoes,%20and%20an%20anchovy%20dressing.%20This%20is%20my%20version.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStart%20with%20crisp%20romaine%20lettuce,%20wash,%20spin%20dry,%20tear%20into%20bite%20sized%20pieces,%20and%20pile%20onto%20your%20serving%20plates.%20Arrange%20the%20various%20components%20on%20top%20of%20the%20lettuce%20in%20whatever%20order%20pleases%20you:%20Quickly%20blanched%20farmer%E2%80%99s%20market%20green%20beans%20%20(just%202-3%20min%20in%20boiling%20water%20until%20bright%20green%20and%20still%20crisp,%20then%20plunge%20them%20into%20an%20ice%20bath%20to%20stop%20cooking),%20halved%20boiled%20new%20potatoes,%20halved%20cherry%20tomatoes,%20sliced%20farm-fresh%20radishes,%20hard-boiled%20eggs,%20halved,%20sprinkled%20with%20a%20little%20salt%20&%20pepper,%20some%20pitted,%20marinated%20green%20&%20brown%20olives,%20and%20some%20jarred%20tuna%20fillets%20in%20olive%20oil%20(check%20out%20Tonnino%20brand%20%E2%80%93%20we%20love%20the%20jalapeno%20flavor,%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20pantry%20staples,%20and%20perfect%20for%20picnics%20if%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20use%20them%20in%20this%20salad).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnchovies%20don%E2%80%99t%20really%20agree%20with%20me%20this%20pregnancy,%20so%20I%E2%80%99ll%20recommend%20this%20shallot-dijon%20vinaigrette%20instead:%20Whisk%20together%20dijon%20mustard,%20sherry%20vinegar,%20a%20little%20red%20wine%20vinegar,%20minced%20shallot,%20a%20little%20agave%20nectar%20for%20sweetness,%20salt%20and%20pepper.%20Add%20olive%20oil%20in%20a%20steady%20stream%20and%20continue%20to%20whisk%20until%20incorporated.%20Taste%20and%20adjust%20ingredients%20as%20necessary.%20Drizzle%20the%20dressing%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20salad%20and%20all%20its%20colorful%20components.%20Let%20your%20plate%20be%20your%20blank%20canvas%20and%20feel%20free%20to%20tweak%20things%20depending%20on%20what%20fresh%20produce%20you%20have%20available.%20
