Receta The Kristen Kocktail with Cabo Wabo Diablo – Celebrating Dine and Dish 7th Blog Anniversary!
I love the spontaneous (shall we say combustion?) that can happen over a comment or two on Twitter. I’ve met someone for cocktails on a moment’s notice, planned a wine gathering, supported a friend in need and welcomed new babies into the fold. After years on Twitter I’ve amassed a lot of followers but those are just numbers; it’s the people I’ve really connected with in one way or another that mean the most. Some have become friends that visit, others I’ve chatted with on the phone and then some; well, though we have developed a symmetry we’ve never met or actually spoken to each other except through tweets. One friend who fits into that last category is my pal Kristen who is the brains behind the Dine and Dish blog and she just happened to have recently celebrated her 7th anniversary of blogging or as it’s often referred to in the ‘world of blogging ‘, as a blogiversary. It’s because of her that I’m taking the time today to acknowledge that feat and offer up this cocktail just for her…or at least I hope so; she claims to not be drinking. What?!
This is really someone else fault that I’m doing this; we had a three-way going on Twitter (minds out of the gutter, stat!) and it was Stacy at Wicked Good Kitchen who suggested a cocktail was in order AND that I do one especially for Kristen. Sure, I can do that. Let me think on it a bit…and pieces started to come together.
I’ve seen Kristen post her #shotofcoffee on Instagram often so the bottle of Cabo Wabo Diablo was the first thing that came to mind. Probably because it was sitting right in front of me. Prophetic right? But this cocktail had to represent more than just her love of coffee. Represent what? Well, the girl with a passle of kids just went to a rock concert so I’m thinking that Sammy Hagar would be most proud that we’re using his brand for this celebration. Rock ON Kristen!!
Moving on there had to be SOMETHING that in SOME WAY would be illustrative of the fact that we both love the same man. No sillies, not her husband! Nope, it was The Coach. The who? If you have to ask then you must not know that rabid group of followers of a little known television show called Friday Night Lights. There was a group of us on Twitter that simply salivated at those two words. Wait…only one would do too. Coach. Ahhhh. We LOVED him. Some might know him as Kyle Chandler but if you ever see us refer to Coach or by his full name of The Coach it is that dreamy, imperfect but still perfect husband, father and football coach from that show. The show was set in Texas and I know he lives in Austin (a bit scary that I know that huh?) so I’m going to have to go with him representing the Tequila…yeah, I could see him doing shots in a heartbeat with us…I mean with Tammy, his wife on the show. Yeah, that’s what I meant.
But there’s more. We have become just close enough to share another man. This one is more surprising. A couple of years ago I thought him so smarmy that the thought of my daughter being in his presence was scary (and sort of still is) but after the Voice premiered and he has been a constant that has charmed repeatedly I caved. Oh Adam you little buggar, you have won me over. I think I could be his mom (ahem, a VERY young one but still..) however I can not deny that this connection elicits something other than mom thoughts and I’m CERTAIN when Kristen went to see him in concert recently she was not thinking about his bed time…or wait, maybe she was? What? You didn’t hear about their moment from afar? I thought ALL of Twitter knew that! Adam Levine is a smooth operator but still sweet and warms our heart…isn’t that what most of the other ingredients suggest? The richness of half and half and coffee ice cream combined with the sweetness of the liqueurs and maybe a heart that still needs to melt a bit like those ice cubes? That new puppy should take care of that!
Lest we forget part of Adam’s charms…suggested by my pal across the pond, Jeanne at Cook Sister:
Combine all the above with a bit of heat that both men generate with a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne and you have the Kristen Kocktail. Some Sweet. Some Heat. A bit of Spice. Combined together and it’s so very Nice! Just like you Kristen…and I hope this coming year is a great one for you! Cheers!!!
