.%20At%20the%20six-month%20mark%20I%20made%20this%20post%20with%20some%20lessons%20I%E2%80%99d%20learned;%20while%20many%20of%20these%20tips%20still%20ring%20true%20(although%20we%20haven%E2%80%99t%20had%20ice%20cream%20for%20some%20time%20now),%20I%20thought%20I%E2%80%99d%20add%20a%20few%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20mentioned%20in%20my%20six-month%20post%20that%20hard%20cider%20has%20replaced%20beer%20for%20me;%20little%20did%20I%20know%20that%20there%20are%20gluten-free%20beers%20out%20there%20to%20be%20had.%20There%20are%20several%20kinds%20of%20sorghum%20beers%20available,%20including%20one%20made%20by%20Budweiser%20(that%20%E2%80%93%20surprise!%20%E2%80%93%20tastes%20like%20Budweiser)%20called%20Redbridge.%20My%20favorite,%20however,%20is%20the%20beer%20you%20see%20above%20%E2%80%93%20New%20Grist%20%E2%80%93%20which%20is%20made%20with%20sorghum%20and%20rice.%20It%E2%80%99s%20not%20a%20perfect%20brew,%20and%20I%20only%20have%20one%20every%20once%20in%20a%20while.%20But%20it%E2%80%99s%20nice%20to%20have%20a%20guilt-free%20beer%20every%20now%20and%20then.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%E2%80%99ve%20kept%20a%20bag%20of%20Costco%E2%80%99s%20normandy-style%20vegetable%20blend%20in%20our%20freezer%20all%20year%20long%20%E2%80%93%20the%20mix%20of%20carrots%20(both%20regular%20orange%20and%20sweet%20yellow),%20broccoli,%20and%20cauliflower%20are%20a%20great%20way%20to%20make%20sure%20we%20get%20a%20good%20dose%20of%20veggies%20when%20we%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20anything%20fresh%20on%20hand.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnother%20staple%20has%20been%20the%20Organic%2050/50%20salad%20mix%20by%20Fresh%20Express%20(the%2050/50%20refers%20to%20it%20being%20half%20spinach%20and%20half%20lettuce).%20It%E2%80%99s%20got%20plenty%20of%20variety%20(baby%20spinach,%20green%20romaine%20lettuce,%20green%20leaf%20lettuce,%20tango%20lettuce,%20green%20oak%20lettuce,%20lollo%20rossa%20lettuce,%20radicchio,%20red%20romaine%20lettuce,%20red%20leaf%20lettuce,%20red%20oak%20lettuce,%20red%20butter%20lettuce,%20red%20bok%20choy,%20arugula,%20mizuna)%20and%20keeps%20for%20a%20good%20week%20or%20two%20in%20the%20fridge.%20It%E2%80%99s%20an%20easy%20way%20to%20just%20grab%20a%20handful%20of%20greens%20and%20stuff%20them%20onto%20the%20plate%20along%20with%20the%20rest%20of%20your%20meal.%20I%20usually%20top%20my%20salads%20with%20Columela%20olive%20oil%20(hands-down%20my%20favorite%20salad%20oil),%20with%20a%20dash%20of%20black%20pepper.%20It%E2%80%99s%20cheap,%20too%20%E2%80%93%20you%20can%20usually%20find%20a%201%20lb.%20clamshell%20at%20Sam%E2%80%99s%20Club%20or%20Costco%20for%20just%20a%20few%20bucks.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChipotle%20has%20slowly%20become%20our%20go-to%20restaurant%20when%20we%E2%80%99re%20out%20and%20in%20a%20pinch;%20they%E2%80%99re%20sprouting%20up%20all%20over%20the%20place%20so%20they%E2%80%99re%20incredibly%20convenient,%20and%20their%20salads/burrito%20bowls%20are%20much%20easier%20(and%20cleaner)%20to%20eat%20than%20bunless%20hamburgers%20(which%20we%20usually%20get%20at%20Wendy%E2%80%99s%20if%20we%E2%80%99re%20away%20from%20the%20house).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20tend%20to%20order%20a%20salad%20(which%20is%20like%20a%20burrito%20bowl%20but%20lined%20with%20lettuce%20first),%20with%20white%20rice,%20double%20chicken%20(they%20charge%20a%20bit%20extra%20for%20that),%20sour%20cream,%20cheese,%20and%20then%20more%20lettuce.%20My%20wife%20does%20the%20same%20but%20with%20just%20a%20regular%20portion%20of%20chicken%20and%20some%20tomatillo%20salsa%20and%20some%20guacamole.%20Being%20able%20to%20order%20online%20(or%20through%20the%20iPhone%20app)%20and%20pick%20it%20up%20has%20been%20a%20total%20lifesaver;%20the%20only%20exception%20is%20that%20you%20can%E2%80%99t%20order%20a%20kid%E2%80%99s%20meal%20online%20so%20sometimes%20we%20have%20to%20jump%20in%20line%20anyway.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20finally,%20one%20quick%20concession.%20Over%20the%20past%20year%20I%E2%80%99ve%20taken%20a%20few%20nibbles%20on%20corn%20tortilla%20chips%20and%20had%20a%20hard-shell%20taco%20or%20two;%20turns%20out%20that%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20any%20stomach%20issues%20afterwards.%20This%20year%20we%20plan%20on%20slowly%20trying%20to%20re-introduce%20corn%20into%20our%20diet%20to%20see%20how%20we%20fare.%20I%E2%80%99m%20probably%20going%20to%20limit%20it%20to%20corn%20tortillas%20and%20the%20occasional%20bowl%20of%20popcorn,%20but%20I%20look%20forward%20to%20seeing%20how%20it%E2%80%99ll%20go.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
