.%20I%20decided%20to%20make%20Kimchi%20Fried%20Rice.%20It%20is%20my%20standard%20when%20the%20big%20guy%20is%20out%20of%20town%20or%20eating%20at%20some%20fancy%20shmancy%20restaurant%20(well%20again%20an%20overstatement%20since%20he%20was%20going%20to%20Burlington,%20MA%20to%20eat)%20and%20I%20am%20watching%20%22Mystery%20Diagnosis%22%20(shut%20up,%20I%20usually%20watch%20less%20intellectual%20things%20when%20Dr%20Food%20is%20home....like%20reruns%20of%20Seinfeld%20and%20stuff%20like%20that).%20Ok,%20I%20will%20get%20on%20with%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirst%20off%20let%20me%20tell%20you%20that%20we%20have%20pretty%20much%20taken%20all%20processed%20food%20out%20of%20our%20diet.%20We%20eat%20only%20brown%20rice%20and%20grains.%20We%20eat%20wheat%20pasta%20(ew,%20I%20really%20still%20don't%20like%20it).%20Anyhow,%20I%20sorta%20snuck%20some%20of%20the%20white%20rice%20in%20tonight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPLEASE,%20I%20know%20that%20Dr%20Food%20is%20gnawing%20on%20a%20steak%20as%20we%20speak%20(well%20as%20*I*%20write)%20and%20I%20KNOW%20that%20he%20goes%20for%20Chinese%20Food%20for%20lunch%20when%20he%20%22forgets%22%20his%20turkey%20sandwich%20at%20home.%20So%20I%20also%20felt%20justified%20in%20sneaking%20in%20some%20chorizo%20into%20my%20Kimchi%20Fried%20Rice.%20I%20am%20getting%20to%20the%20egg%20part%20of%20this%20post.%20Before%20I%20do%20lets%20just%20say%20that%20this%20was%20a%20very%20%22international%22%20dinner.%20I%20think%20the%20next%20time%20I%20make%20it%20I%20will%20use%20pastrami%20instead%20of%20chorizo.%20It%20would%20be%20GOOD.%20Pastrami,%20and%20Kimchi%20and%20rice...with%20an%20egg%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDid%20I%20mention%20that%20I%20hate%20this%20rice%20cooker?%20I%20want%20the%20fancy%20Zojirushi%20one.%20I%20enter%20contests%20on%20blogs%20to%20win%20one%20but%20I%20never%20do.%20This%20is%20because%20I%20don't%20have%20a%20publicist%20and%20I%20am%20not%20very%20popular.%20So,%20ya%20know...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eoh%20oh...I%20know%20what%20I%20wanted%20to%20tell%20you.%20I%20used%20scapes%20that%20I%20froze%20this%20summer.%20How%20cool%20is%20that?!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20went%20to%20my%20Jacques%20and%20Julia%20book%20(it%20is%20autographed%20by%20her%20before%20she%20died%20and%20everything.%20It%20has%20the%20wrong%20name%20but%20that%20is%20ok).%20I%20looked%20up%20how%20to%20poach%20an%20egg.%20She%20tells%20ya%20(I%20didn't%20want%20to%20listen%20to%20Jacque%20because%20I%20am%20Julia's%20girl)%20to%20use%20a%20canning%20jar%20rim%20if%20you%20don't%20have%20an%20egg%20poacher.%20Um,%20yeah,%20like%20I%20have%20an%20egg%20poacher%20sitting%20around.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20I%20followed%20her%20directions%20and%20dropped%20it%20into%20the%20boiling%20water.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELooking%20good!%20I%20love%20you%20Julia%20(but%20I%20refuse%20to%20make%20your%20beef%20bourguignon%20because%20of%20the%20horrible%20movie%20I%20watched).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20this%20is%20when%20it%20took%20a%20turn%20for%20the%20worse.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20took%20it%20out%20and%20it%20was%20perfect.%20Well%20sorta.%20It%20kind%20of%20stuck%20to%20the%20paper%20towel%20(YES,%20JULIA%20said%20to%20drain%20it%20on%20a%20paper%20towel!%20Maybe%20it%20was%20Jacque%20that%20said%20it.%20I%20shouldn't%20have%20listened%20if%20it%20was%20Jacque.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20actually%20amusing%20that%20when%20I%20tried%20to%20move%20it%20forcibly%20it%20did%20this%20kind%20of%20cool%20thing%20and%20just%20separated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20to%20Egg%202.%20The%20perfect%20FRIED%20egg.%20Julia%20had%20no%20advice%20for%20this%20one%20so%20I%20turned%20to%20Jo%C3%ABl%20Robuchon.%20He%20is%20French%20and%20he%20knows%20everything.%20Hey!%20another%20culture%20to%20add%20to%20my%20multicultural%20dinner.%20Portuguese%20chorizo%20with%20Kimchi%20Fried%20Rice%20and%20a%20French%20Egg%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAh,%20pretty%20egg!%20Wait...wait...%20FLIP!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDamn.%20Lets%20try%20again.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWait....wait....FLIP!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGOOD%20ENOUGH.%20Not%20really%20since%20all%20the%20blog%20posts%20that%20I%20see%20on%20the%20%22Popular%22%20sites%20have%20perfect%20eggs.%20I%20mean%20PERFECT.%20I%20know%20they%20must%20sit%20and%20make%20one%20egg%20after%20another%20for%20it%20to%20look%20like%20that%20but%20*I*%20refuse.%20I%20have%20my%20limits%20and%203%20eggs%20is%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20threw%20the%20other%20stuff%20together%20and%20cooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20ya%20have%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBrown%20the%20garlic%20and%20protein%20and%20add%20kimchi.%20Cook%20for%20about%205%20minutes%20and%20then%20add%20rice.%20Cook%20and%20top%20with%20any%20kind%20of%20egg%20you%20like%20as%20long%20as%20it%20is%20%22perfect%22.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUm,%20I%20told%20you%20my%20Gammy%20is%20a%20little%20%22different%22.%20She%20is%20really%20very%20nice%20just%20a%20little%20....you%20know...%22confused%22.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
