.%20I%20enjoy%20brownies.....there's%20nothing%20wrong%20with%20brownies.%20But%20if%20I%20had%20to%20choose%20between%20brownies,%20cakes,%20cupcakes,%20pies,%20cookies%20or%20ice%20cream.%20I'd%20choose%20cookies.%20(at%20least%20that's%20my%20answer%20today).%20But%20I%20think%20sometimes,%20one%20needs%20chocolate.%20Copious%20amounts%20of%20luscious%20chocolate.%20Other%20than%20a%20chocolate%20bar....the%20only%20way%20to%20really%20get%20that%20desire%20filled%20is%20with%20a%20brownie.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou're%20going%20to%20want%20to%20start%20making%20this%20batch%20of%20brownies%20either%20early%20in%20the%20morning,%20or%20the%20night%20before.%20Why???!!!!!%20I%20know....when%20one%20wants%20brownies,%20one%20wants%20them%20now.%20But%20there's%20an%20important%20step%20that%20makes%20them%20extra%20rich....you%20have%20to%20make%20(term%20used%20lightly)%20dulce%20de%20leche.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDulce%20de%20Leche%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%2014oz%20can%20of%20sweetened%20condensed%20milk%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tsp%20salt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20label%20from%20the%20can.%20Place%20the%20can%20(unopened)%20in%20a%20very%20large%20pot%20and%20fill%20with%20water%20until%20the%20can%20is%20completely%20submerged.%20Cover,%20bring%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20then%20reduce%20the%20heat%20down%20to%20medium-low.%20Cook%20for%203%20(yes%203)%20hours.%20Check%20every%20now%20and%20then%20to%20make%20sure%20the%20can%20is%20still%20completely%20covered%20with%20water....adding%20more%20water%20if%20necessary.%20Allow%20the%20can%20to%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20cooled%20you%20can%20open%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20the%20part%20that's%20always%20frustrating%20for%20me.%20Opening%20of%20cans.%20I%20have%20yet%20to%20purchase%20a%20new%20can%20opener%20that%20works%20consistently%20and%20for%20more%20than%20a%20few%20weeks.%20I%20always%20struggle%20with%20the%20darned%20things.%20Something%20somehow%20malfunctions%20and%20the%20gears%20don't%20seem%20to%20line%20up%20or%20something...I%20dunno....but%20I%20struggle%20and%20cuss%20and%20swear%20until%20I%20toss%20the%20damn%20can%20opener%20aside%20and%20dig%20out%20my%20really%20super%20old,%20probably%20made%20for%20camping,%20can%20opener.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWorks%20every%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebtw...don't%20get%20me%20started%20on%20electric%20can%20openers.%20I%20have%20one.%20I%20got%20it%20for%20Christmas%20about%2010%20or%20more%20years%20ago.%20It's%20still%20in%20the%20box.%20I%20think%20Sir%20Sportsalot%20forgot%20that%20he%20needs%20to%20install%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoo.....you%20open%20your%20cooled%20can%20of%20sweetened%20condensed%20milk%20that%20has%20caramelized%20which%20is%20now%20dulce%20de%20leche%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EScoop%20it%20into%20a%20small%20bowl%20and%20stir%20in%20the%20salt.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20bownies....use%20your%20favorite%20brownie%20recipe.%20Whether%20its%20from%20a%20box,%20or%20made%20from%20scratch.%20I%20often%20use%20the%20Baker's%20One%20Bowl%20Brownies%20recipe.%20Its%20easy...and%20it's%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20your%20oven%20to%20350'%20F%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELine%20a%20pan%20with%20parchment%20paper%20(makes%20for%20easy%20clean%20up)%20or%20grease%20a%20pan.%20One%20recipe%20says%20to%20use%20a%209%22%20square%20pan....and%20another%20says%20to%20use%2013%20x%209.%20I%20think%20it%20might%20depend%20on%20your%20recipe%20and%20how%20thick%20you%20want%20your%20brownies.%20You%20might%20have%20to%20adjust%20the%20cooking%20time%20accordingly.%20Just%20let%20the%20toothpick%20be%20your%20guide.%20In%20this%20case...a%20semi%20clean%20toothpick.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20bowl,%20microwave%20the%20butter%20and%20chocolate%20on%20high%20for%202%20minutes,%20or%20until%20the%20butter%20is%20melted.%20Stir%20until%20the%20chocolate%20melts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20in%20the%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBlend%20in%20the%20eggs%20and%20vanilla....stir%20quickly%20at%20this%20point....so%20the%20eggs%20don't%20start%20to%20cook%20from%20the%20warmth%20of%20the%20chocolate%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20flour%20and%20optional%20nuts.%20Mix%20well%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20a%20little%20tempting%20to%20just%20grab%20a%20spoon%20here%20and%20now,%20and%20dig%20in.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20half%20of%20your%20brownie%20mix%20into%20your%20prepared%20pan.%20Top%20with%201/3%20of%20the%20delce%20de%20leche%20and%20swirl%20it%20around%20with%20a%20knife%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarefully%20spread%20the%20rest%20of%20your%20brownie%20mix%20on,%20and%20then%20top%20with%20the%20remaining%20dulce%20de%20leche...and%20swirl%20again.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2040%20minutes%20or%20until%20a%20toothpick%20comes%20out%20almost...kinda,%20sorta%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20this%20brownie%20recipe...I%20did%20have%20to%20increase%20the%20baking%20time%20by%20about%2010%20minutes.%20If%20you're%20using%20a%20box%20mix....try%20the%2040%20minutes...and%20see%20how%20it%20goes%20from%20there.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAllow%20to%20cool%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETopping%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6%20oz%20dark%20chocolate,%20chopped%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECoarse%20Sea%20Salt%20(I%20just%20used%20coarse%20kosher%20salt)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20chocolate%20either%20in%20a%20double%20boiler,%20or%20by%20placing%20the%20chocolate%20in%20a%20bowl%20in%20the%20microwave%20and%20heating%20on%20high%20for%201%20to%202%20minutes,%20stirring%20every%2030%20seconds%20until%20melted%20and%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20the%20brownies%20into%20squares%20(size%20is%20up%20to%20you).%20Spread%20the%20melted%20chocolate%20over%20each%20one.%20It%20helps%20if%20you%20just%20keep%20all%20the%20brownies%20together%20and%20you%20can%20just%20pour%20the%20chocolate%20over%20all%20of%20them%20with%20a%20little%20help%20from%20a%20spoon.%20Sprinkle%20with%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGet%20a%20nice%20tall%20glass%20of%20cold%20milk....and%20take%20a%20few%20minutes%20to%20enjoy%20these%20rich,%20extremely%20chocolaty,%20salty%20brownies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20my%20opinion....these%20are%20perfect%20for....well....you%20know....those%20times%20when%20cravings%20must%20win.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
