The Weekend Dish: 9/14/2013

Happy, happy Saturday!

I’m thrilled to be wrapped up in my favorite hoodie and under my favorite blanket as this first wave of real fall weather washes over the Pittsburgh area. A high in the 50′s yesterday was a shock to the system, but oh-so-cozy. I need to make a run to Starbucks for my first hot chocolate of the season. I have two big goals for my weekend: spend some time in the kitchen today, and get my office area organized. It’s in a sad shape of disarray… I made a trip to Staples last week and need to get busy organizing! What’s in store for your weekend?

As always, you’ll find a recap of what was posted to the site this week as well as some bookmarked recipes from other blogs. Enjoy!

On Brown Eyed Baker This Week

115 Recipes for Football Parties – A roundup of the best appetizers, dips, main dishes and desserts for your next football party.

Apple Dumplings – Fresh apples cored, stuffed with butter and cinnamon sugar, then wrapped in pastry dough and baked in a caramel sauce. Amazing!

Frito Pie – My favorite chili recipe, piled into a casserole dish, topped with Fritos and cheddar cheese, and baked until melted and bubbly.

Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake – An absolute show stopper of a dessert and much easier to make than you’d think!

Friday Things – Puppy pictures, ice cream cones, candles, TV shows and more!

What I Bookmarked This Week

Recipes and posts from other blogs that I thought looked especially delicious and that I thought you would like, too:

Chocolate and Pistachio Cake (Hummingbird High)

I adore the combination of chocolate and pistachio, and this cake looks to be the perfect marriage of two.

Fried Pickles (Table For Two)

I first had fried pickles when on vacation in Florida nearly 10 years ago, and I fell in love immediately. I’ve never made them at home, and now I have no excuse not to!

Homemade Raspberry Fruit Leather (Tracey’s Culinary Adventures)

When I was a kid, my mom didn’t allow things like Fruit Rollups into the house on a regular basis, but I did try a couple over the years. I can only imagine how amazing it must taste made with real raspberries and fresh ingredients.

Prosciutto and Fig Panini (Shutterbean)

I was ecstatic when I saw fresh figs at the local grocery store a couple of weeks ago; now I know the perfect thing to make with them!

Pumpkin Pie Crumb Bars (Cooking Classy)

It’s never too early for pumpkin desserts, and there’s always room for crumb cake. Love this combination.

What was the best thing you ate this week??

Have a delicious weekend!
