Receta thrive baby, thrive! // creamy kumara mash
by Jess Smith

Being out of school is real weird, I think everyone experiences this a little. After 16 years of schooling it's hard not to get in the mode of turning stuff in, getting graded and let's be real, most importantly, always seeing your friends. Which is why I seek learning opportunities everywhere I can...

**pauses to push up glasses**

That may have sounded geeky but hey I'm going to be smarter than you one day so follow my lead on this one.

I've recently signed up for the Thrive Forward Program, heard of it? It's been put together by Brendan Brazier. His last name just reminded me of Dodgeball - lazer, tazor, blazor, etc. Such a good movie. Anyways, he developed this program to educate people on plant-based food and how it can do magical things for you. It's free too...now what in life is free anyways? Let's take advantage shall we? Check out the program here.

You begin the program by taking a short quiz - this will put together the lessons that apply to you the most. The lessons are literally 3 - 4 minute videos of Brendan explaining that particular topic. He's such a little cutie shy guy too, I feel like he's nervous when I'm watching them, but none the less they are GOOD, make sense, and are short and sweet. Which...fit into every one's busy sch. Awesome.

There has just been a new chapter added all about Sport Nutrition and how you can get all the nutrients you need from a plant-based diet even when you're an athlete. Important point, Brendan (we are basically BFFs now) refers to eating a plant-based diet as, 'Clean Eating' whichhhh can get confusing with Tosca Reno's eat-clean diet concept.

so many things to rememberrrrrr

It's okay we will work this out. Literally, workout like...at a gym, or outside. I highly suggest going to his website and checking out the Thrive Forward program. He's also developed a protein powder supplement which by the sounds of it, everyone loves. There are a lot of good options of plant-based protein powders though, but it's good to have...OPTIONS. (fav word)

If you are subject to a lot of food allergies this program could really help you unlock how to go about working with them, around them, and even to fix them all together by eating the plant-based way. "Subject to" sounds so criminalizing doesn't it?

Today's recipe is a super easy one - creamy kumara mash AKA creamy potato/sweet potato-y mash potatos, but isn't the word MASH on its own much more fun? Yeah, I agree.

Ingredients//

4 medium skinned kumara's

Directions//

Skin kumaras and rinse them

Cut into squares to make them easier to boil

Boil em (how'd you know!) 20 - 25 minutes//until they are soft

Once soft, drain the water and mash them as you would any potato

Add greek yogurt, mix well

Add in unsweetened almond milk, mix well

I topped mine with a little Italian Herbs - muy bonita!

Still thinking about Boston a lot.... Rooting for America to find that fucker who did it.

Excuse my language, but it's neccessary.

be GOOD to YOURSELF,

Jess
